and don't be afraid of the climbs - embrace them, learn to love them and then get off and walk anyway

We did a Gurls only event last year at our local up lift and it was very popular.
I greatest thing i saw was how much everyone improved.

the biggest thing i noticed was how the riders ALL put themselves in lower groups (ability) than they were.
Even the Gurls that had done some DH learnt something.

And us supporters realised what we had forgotten/never learned.

I think that's true. We do tend to lack a lot in confidence, but I suspect that's because we generally have only had our boys (for those of us that are that way inclined ) to compare ourselves to.

I have a female friend I ride with regularly and what I've learned from that is that she surges up the climbs like a friggin billy goat leaving me huffing and puffing in her jet stream but she is far less confident going downhill due to a serious injury which has really sapped her confidence, whereas (stumps and narrow bridges aside) I'm pretty confident going downhill and can get up a fair lick of speed.

We balance each other out quite nicely

Most of my friends are men too, but I am a bit of a tomboy and tend to be involved in fairly roughty-toughty sports like snowboarding and mtb. And being such from a really early age, I got a lot of grief from girls I went to school with so didn't really learn how to deal with, sorry, I mean socialize, with women. It's only been in the last in the last 10 years or so that I've become more in touch with my feminine side (I've always loved pink, though!)

We used to make 'OBE' or 'Order of the Brown Entry' medals for the butt kissers at work... I know its not quite the same thing, but there was much creativity involved, and lots of tongues sticking out while we were making them :P
