Brake pad life (Juicy 3)

Had a quick look via Search, so sorry if I've missed previous Qs on this.

Does anyone have any advice on how long Juicy 3 pads might last? My XTC has done <300 miles (very gentle use only): the brakes seem fine, BUT I have no experience against which to judge!

How do I tell when need replacing? Wondering if OK for a 50-75 mile (again gentle!) weekend or if I need to take a different, V braked, bike.

Thanks for any guidance.

it all depends on conditions and pads.

wet and muddy conditions can kill pads in a ride. dry conditions and they can last for years.

wet and muddy conditions use sintered pads. Dry use Organic.

Always have one spare set of pads in the camelbac.

Over 1000 mi on mine and they are worn but still OK. Perhaps I should use them more often.

Mine have done about 350 / 400 miles and most of this was through the mud over winter

My front brake had faded quite a lot and I was going to change the pads, turned it just needed bleeding, sharp as a pin again now

    Thanks all!

Given a 9st rider and having never been out in the wet - mostly dry tarmac or semi-surfaced tow paths - I shall assume OK for the weekend and change the pads next week!

Bloody 'ell - I've just looked at the prices of pads! Up to TWENTY QUID! A £2 set of V blocks last me at least 1000 miles!

Knew I was right to be selling the bike after this weekend.

    Thank you!

Original Equipment prices are a joke - must be something like a 1000% mark up over production cost!

I got a problem not removing my wheels and spraying wd-40

Ill just spray it everywere, even though in the back of my head I think little bits wont get on my pads

When this happens I just take the pads off and burn them under my gas hob and bobs your uncle. or if he is a tranny ... your aunt.

If that does not work, which it always does, go to superstar and pick up 4 pairs for the same price as 1 set from the man.

SECRET>>>>>>>> The price is different from ebay and the shop, so check the price, saved a pound shopping on ebay, rather than going to the shop, but they might have caught on by now. . As have eased up on the wd-40 trigger finger
