ok I need to replace my shimano lx 9 speed cassette. Trouble is most of the shops will be busy doing servicing for the bike fest so will unlikely get my bike done in time.

anyone know of any shops in bristol that sell the tools or a shop that will delivery on saturday so I can do it myself?

Or possibly a shop that's not too busy.

Only problem I have is I'm waiting for a refund from somewhere and knowing my luck I won't get it until Friday otherwise I'd have taken it today.

I bought a tool set from Halfords that had the shimano casstte tool included... not a bad toolset for the amatuer.. no doubt you would be able to purchase the remover tool and chain whip on thier own from Halfords...

Chain whip + big adjustable spanner + lockring tool, I'd have thought every LBS would stock them (certainly Bike, Strada, ZeroG, Terrys etc. would in the Bristol area). IMO it is worth buying your own tools for this as it's a reasonably regular thing replacing a cassette (or taking it off for a thorough clean).

toolkit looks like a sound investment :D

I was just a bit worried I wouldn't be able to get the bike sorted in time for the bike fest! so far so good

if you're in town then evans have all those items...I got a park chain whip and spanner both about a foot long and excellent leverage for removing stubborn lock rings with out the pain of my previous tools...

also use your qr to lock the cassette tool in place...its sooo much easier and means less scuffed bleedning knuckles.

ok i've just found out it's the freehub itself that needs replacing but as the cassette looked in better condition I had it swapped.

Now I just have to hope my account is credited tomorrow so I can go buy one.

In the unlikely event of not being able to get one locally is there anywhere that will deliver on saturday if I order on friday?

why not ring all the lbs in your area and see if they have one in. if they do ask them to keep it for you till tomorrow/saturday. most lbs should do this for you, i've not had a problem doing this in the past. atleast if they do you'll have peace of mind you'll get it in time
