I'm a 165 cm tall female (inseam: 76 cm). Would the 53cm frame size fit me?
Any advice on the Bianchi sizes would be gratefully received as I have had conflicting advise from local bike shops.
Many thanks in advance!

I'm 176cm and I think a 53 would fit me so I'd say you need something smaller. Can't you try one out anywhere?More problems but still living....0

........... and no, a 53 will be waaayyyyyyyy too big. I'm 5'8" with a 31" leg and I don't ride a frame that big.
Bike sizing for woman can be tricky for two reasons. Firstly, women tend to be differently proportioned to men having longer legs and shorter torsos. That means a frame that fits your leg length may be too long. I have a female friend who is very tall but rides a small Giant SCR with a long seat post because she has long legs and a short torso.
The second problem is that bikes often aren't made small enough for shorter women because the majority of them are aimed at the male market. There are a few companies who make very small bikes and it may be worth finding them. The one that springs to mind immediately is Planet-X.0 -
hi pernille,
im your hieght(give or take a few cm's) and i have the 48 cm frame. fits me really nicly, and still has a bit of room for growth. im only 14 by the way0 -
Thanks a lot everybody for your replies!
The competitive cyclist tool is great. But it actually says that the 53cm frame would fit me - apart from the top tube being too short, of all things! Very confusing.
You basically all say the 53cm is too big, and going by general size charts I would say so too, But the guys in the bike shop and the calculator say it fits - so I'm no less confused.
But I have decided to spend a few more days investigating before buying, seeing that you're all speaking from experience.
Also thank you for the advise on female geometry and Planet-X bikes. I'll have a look, although I think I've managed to fall for the Bianchis, so I might just have to pay more for one of their other bikes in a smaller frame if I can get the right groupset, etc.0
