The age old question at this time of year, which should i go for out of the following (mid £30's max price wise but cheaper the better)....comfort on the saddle is an important factor!

Altura Progel:- http://www.ribblecycles.co.uk/productde ... LTUZSHS300

Endura Coolmax 8 panel with pad:- http://www.ribblecycles.co.uk/productde ... NDUZSHS250

Lusso Coolmax 10 panel progel:- http://www.ribblecycles.co.uk/productde ... USSZSHS450

DHB Earnley:- http://www.wiggle.co.uk/p/cycle/7/dhb_E ... 360021258/

Or can you suggest something better? Is it worth stumping up the extra few quid and going for the Endura FS260? ( http://www.ribblecycles.co.uk/productde ... NDUZSHS200 )

Oh and when it says "anti bacterial insert" does this mean its padded or is this not really what its for?
Cheers, Stu

anti bacterial means reduced risk of saddle sores.

Spending money on decent shorts is one of the best uses of money spent on cycling...

I also suggest getting bib shorts as non-bib ones can move around meaning the chamois can chafe, plus you get builder's bum-crack...

These are your best bet at that price, but I would seriously consider stretching out a bit...

    Girodana Silverline - great insert
  • I just ordered some DHB earnley shorts from Wiggle. Hopefully they are ok for the money. Price was good and they look nice enough.

Carbon fibre, it's all nonsense. Drink beer. Ride a steel bike. Don't be a ponce.

I've got two pairs of DHB earnleys and they are excellent for the money. If you can stretch your budget DHB Finchdeans are well worth the extra cost.

Protective San Remo's are supposed to be a good short, with a comfortable chamois for longer rides. They're exclusive to Edinburgh Bicycle and cost £39.99. Cycling plus give them a really good review a couple of issues back. I'm going to invest in some myself.

Not too sure of my geography but if you are anywhere near to Stockport I would pop into Decathlon and pick up a pair of their bib shorts which retail for £20 as they are the most comfortable shorts I have worn in my twenty years of wearing bibs.

    Can we fix it?
    Yes we can!

+1 for DHB Earnleys. fairly basic but comfortable enough for 100 miles
