Was out for a run on saturday evening, when my front tyre lost pressure really quickly.

Was only 6 miles from home but sods law dictates I had taken my frame bag off to wash the bike (containing tools / spare tube etc) and hadnt put it back on

took the tyre off, not a mark inside or out.....

the tube had two abrasion marks above the valve.....which are leaking air....

Just a bit confused as to how this happened as obviously I want to do what I can to stop it happening again....

Tyres inflated rock hard (i have no pressure gauge but the tyres say inflate to 80psi)

Tyres are 26x1.5 Scwalbe City Jets

Ill try and get a pic up later

Sounds to me like the tube surrounding the valve is rubbing against the inside of the rim. Check your rim tape is snug right up to the hole in the rim and there are no burrs.

Sorry didnt explain it right - the marks are on the tyre side of the tube

Went round to my "Local to Work Bike Shop" (so thats LWBS then???)

Showed him the old tube and he reckoned manufacturing default as it looks like its failed on the joins between the main tube and the inch-long section with the valve in it.

Thats what I get for buying cheapies on fleabay then....

Either way he sold me three new ones
