Hey guys,

Hope you are all well and had a great weekend with some riding .. the weather was awesome to say the least!

Anyways, I am planning to head up to 7 Stanes with a mate of mine for a week and am looking for a self catering place that sleeps 4, which is pretty central to all the 7 Stanes bike centres.

Can anyone recommend any places to stay ....?

My folks holiday cottages and is 5 minutes from Glentrool and Kirroughtree, and a 30min drive to Castle Douglas, and 45min to Dalbeattie, Mabie, Ae etc

Its self catering, bike friendly and loads of space.

Drop me a PM if you want any other info or advice on somewhere to stay local to any other trails if this isnt suitable.

Try The Old Exchange at Threave near Castle Douglas.

    Dalbeattie - 15 mins
    Kirroughtree - 30 mins
    Mabie - 30 mins
    Ae - 40 mins
    Newcastleton - 1 1/2 hours
    Glentress/Inners - 2 hours

As you can probably see from that bit of writing underneath my posts. I am a big fan of the 7 stanes particularly Mabie. Anyhow, if you want a place that is about 5 mins from dalbeattie and half an hour from Mabie. Checkout the small hamlets of Rockcliffe and Kippford. Beautiful seaside places and i have been going at least twice a year for at least five years now. Recently started taking my bike. A great place to stay is Ilala and Kippford but also Colbean in Rockcliffe. I advise you check them out. Ilala has lots of room for bikes. We made a jump in the woods behind and a mini trail. My advice. Check it out.
Mabie forest. Maybe one of the greatest places to ride.

"Have you ever attempted the darkside". .....No..I have my limits and self preservations sets in when I look at that stuff

Strictly a 2 wheels on the ground type of rider.

If I was younger and did`nt have a few age related aches`n pains I might have considered it.

Bit miffed really cause that area should have had a good proper bit of singletrack there, according to the original plan.
