Where and when can I find the exact route? I'm going to be near Montpellier for the start and the days through to leaving Agde. I'd like to plan where to do my watching from.............

It's usually available around now on letour.fr but doesn't seem to be there yet.

You can get the route in the local paper on the day/day before the race or buy Vélo magazine before the race as the Tour Guide inside contains the full details of every route with every junction, turn and the expected times of the riders.

If you take your bike you will be able to ride the TTT course near Montpellier in the morning and the teams will be warming up on the route, you can get some riding time with them.

The various guides from the English press will be out soon, and they always have the exact details, the Tour de France give them to the press mid-May.

I think the procycling one is out in the next few days, maybe one of the staffers can plug it and give some details.

    Out this Thursday.

if you're a subscriber to C+, there is a voucher in this month's Le Tour supplement (Arrived on my door yesterday morning).
Already signed up for the following 2010 rides:

    Etape Caledonia (May 16th)
    AMR's Trossachs Ton (June 20th)
    AMR's Cross-Border Sportive (Sept 19th)

A bit superficial and does not give much detail on the route.

This is the route of the TT at Montpellier :

Start : Place de la Comédie, in town centre

    - Rue de la Loge
    - under Montpellier’s Arc de Triomphe (Rue Foch)
    - Boulevard des Arceaux
    - Avenue de l'Agriculture

    Leaving Montpellier to the NW

Anti-clockwise circuit through the villages of Grabels, Bel Air, Murviel-les-Montpellier, Pignan, Lavérune, and then back to Montpellier

Finish : in front of the Yves du Manoir stadium (Avenue de Vanières, SW of town centre)

Wasn't the guide given away as a freebie with Procycling last year? I think I bought the guide when I saw it last year only to find that I got it free with Procycling a few days later. Is this a change of tack? Can I buy the TDF survival pack safe in the knowledge that the guide won't appear with the next issue of C+ or Procycling?

    It's a different guide. ;).

I can imagine Pro Cycling will run another guide, but it won't be as big i would imagine.

I hope so - it was the official TdF guide that was bundelled up with the mag last year. I'll have a good look through the cellophane at WH Smiths tomorrow... :)

And for the first time in a decade, it will be staying on the shelf in the shop.
Very nice and all that, in it's pretty box file format.
Isn't that more or less the same dvd as last year, too?
    10 quid?
I know the Tour is all about commercialism, but that's pretty steep for a route guide.

.....or maybe I'm not enough of an old fanboy for wall posters.

Go to www.letour.fr. look for heading 'Race Preview 2009'. Within this, another heading 'Stage by Stage'. Click on the stage you want and look for a small heading 'Maps and Routes. Within this another heading 'Timings'. Pain in the butt but it does gives timings for all towns, villages, etc, on each days stage.

Well, spotted it in WHS's, gulped a bit at the price tag but thought "what the hell? 228 pages is a lot of reading". Cycling Plus sitting next to it had its slim Le Tour supplement, so it isn't being bundled with that. £10 handed over. I'll buy C+ next week.

Then, got to Glasgow station, wandered into the newsagent to kill some time. To my great irritation, alongside the normal Cycling Plus mag and the Offical Tour Guide pack is a C+ and Official Tour Guide pack bundle for £11!.
