Do you know any Orbea Stockists?

I'm looking for Orbea Stockists. I live in Essex, but am prepared to travel a couple of hours to get an Onix at the right price. A LBS came in a bit too high on price, compared to what I know I can get from Epic-Cycles but before I commit to them and travel 3hrs+ I was hoping the forum members might know of more local stockists.

I've been searching online and have found a few, but recommendations would be much appreciated.

By the way, I'm looking at the largest sized Onix as I'm 6ft4. Some stockists haven't had these in!

  • Primera in Bournemouth stock various Orbeas but check first before you travel. Nice bunch of guys and they will do a bike fit for you. This normally costs £50 (and a further £50 for adjustments) but they will refund these costs if you buy from them.

They are also receptive to a deal if you pay cash/credit card! They also stock Specialized, Trek, Cannondale, etc so offer a good choice from which to choose. Well worth considering....

Richardson Cycles in Leigh-on-Sea are an Orbea dealer. Limited stock in the shop but may be worth giving them a rinbg - very helpful.

I know Ray Freemans in Norwich used to stock them but I don't have any experience of them I'm afraid. Also Pedal Revolutions in Norwich had one or two in for a time so might be worth a go, personal experience is mixed with them, it can be difficult to get served as they are often understaffed so might be worth ringing before you travel.

Thanks so far. I'll definitely contact Ricardsons in Leigh-on-sea as it's only a 30 minute drive.

My LBS Revell Outdoors in Newmarket are Orbea dealers. Decent bike shop but I'd hesitate to call them stockists because it's not a huge shop. I wanted to test ride a couple of Orbeas but because I'm a shortarse they didn't have the right size in stock. Said they'd phone me when something came in, and that was nearly a year ago. Also asked about the scope for negotiation on the price and was told no but they might throw in some extras free.

So despite the distance, off I went to Epic where I knew the Orbeas were 10% cheaper, and ended up buying something else!

Would suggest epic, as their service is outstanding and they gave me a free Orbea cap with my replacement mech hanger.

Great choice in bike too! Used mine for everything this year and it's never come up wanting.

Looks as though I will go with Epic as my frame size doesn't seem readily available elsewhere. The quotes I have had for my size (60cm) are also ALWAYS above Epics prices.

They told me it was a good price first of all. Maybe I should have believed them!

...in this sort of climate though, you'd think one or two shops would be willing to meet you in the middle. Maybe they know they will sell. Supply and Demand I guess.

I think there is a shop in Hatfield that does them too, well did the last time I was in there.
Sorry but not sure of the name but they are near the police station

Sorry to hijack the thread but has anyone else noticed that Orbeas never seem to get tested in any of the mainstream magazines. I just got this months Cycling Plus and yet again they have a group test and no Orbea. I know they're not the biggest manufacturer but even so they do have a team in the tour.
  • Yeah, funny that. Orbea probably don`t advertise in any of these mags. Don`t believe eveerything you read in mags regarding reviews as they don`t like upsetting their "bigger" advertisers so are less likely to give them bad reviews.

    Think about it....

Plus they don't tend to bring out new bikes that often, although they redesigned the Onix and dropped the Opal for 09... How very odd.

My bet is on the fact that the majority of riders have no panache and simply want whatever Trekalized the big pro-tour teams are using at the min. Witness the amount of Shimano out there...

Hi mate, depending on where in Essex you are, you should go and see Rob Morse at Life Cycle UK in Bildeston, just north of Hadleigh in Suffolk.

I bought my 09 Aqua from there, the knowledge/service is top notch, they spent a good hour setting my bike up before they let me take it home.

Terry Wright Cycles in Market Deeping, just north of Peterborough is an Orbea dealer, so approx. 2 hours from Essex - depending where you live. Might be worth contatcting them on 01778 344051 or terrywrightcycles@yahoo.co.uk

do they do an Orbea that is carbon and fits my criteria.....fairly upright position with emphasis rather more on comfort than all out speed yet will be adaptable as I build up my fitness - maybe 100mile runs at w/e when eventually fit?
    thanks guys
  • Mothyman - have a look at either the Orbea Spatios or their Diem range.
Diem's are slightly heavier but are full carbon and very very adaptable. Spatios uses the new Onix frame and could be converted to a full headbangers bike if you wanted to at some point.

    Cheers,
    Steve.
