Dura ace 7900 cassette compatibility

I use a SRAM11-28 which seems to shift better than a Shimano one - even with a Shimano chain.

Isn't there some kind of compatibility issue with DA7900 chains (asymmetric), so does that translate backwards to the cassettes?

I gather the new Ultegra will have a 12-28 and be backward compatible to 6600, so if you can wait 'til October, that might be your answer.
