Well any help would be great. Im considering the 2008 Trek 6300 or a 2008 Kona Hoss. I will be just doing light tracks nothing major at all. Just want to get fit, But im quite big 17 stone ;>( so need something sturdy. Wanted to stay at £600 or so.
Your advise is much appreciated.

personally.... id look at a carrera fury.
Better fork and finishing kit, plus its strong as hell.... wouldn't be any problems with a 17st rider. Dart forks are pretty pants.
But out of those 2... the Kona.0 -
what a bout a Merlin Malt 1??
excellent reviews, award winner, fairly lightwieght and good components and you can it for around £600 online!!

Another stock answer, I'd have a Carrera Fury too. Stupidly good value even at full price, and often discounted. The Dart 3 on the Trek is alright- not to be confused with a dart 1 or 2- but for that price I'd demand more personally.Uncompromising extremist0

Oh, I dunno, the XTC is mint but it's a wee bit racy for most folks...Uncompromising extremist0

yeah i hear its a little bit race orientated due tio riding position... but surely a new set of high rise bars or a new stem could make it a more relaxed ride...... shame to get a bike with inferior build and componants over sumthin that might be very easily rectified in the XTC..0

Well, I dunno, the spec's not really as good in some places as the Fury frinstance, those 117s aren't great. Nice drivetrain though. But it's the 80mm forks and steep geometry that'd put me off, I mean, I remember when 80mm was a lot but longer forks just mean the bike can do a lot more, without neccesarily any real drawbacks.
The fury's downside is weight, really... It's a heavyset bike built for pretty rough stuff. But then, it's actually lighter than some pure XC bikes in this price range just because the spec is better than most.Uncompromising extremist0
