Hi guys,

My cousin and I are trying to plan a route from my house in London to his house in Lancashire. Preferably along the water ways and any other scenic and off road sections.

Has anyone done some of this and or planned some of this route? If so can anyone suggest a good route planner?

Many thanks guys!

Lots of OS maps and a highlighter pen?

Seriously though, why not use on on-line route planner like on the AA or RAC websites to give you a rough route between the two points. This will give you a good idea of which towns that you will need to pass through.

You can then knock off the places to avoid (like the big cities), then you can work out a routes between your way-points/stop offs.

Sounds like a cracking trip BTW!!

You could use the interactive map on the Sustrans site. This shows off-road and on-road cycle routes, so you could plan a route based around these.
