Good cheap wheels needed

Hi,
I want a second pair of wheels to put my road tyres on for commuting to work.
It only takes half an hour to swap tyres at the moment, but Im just thinking it would be easier to just be able to swap wheels, instead of changing my tyres over all the time.
Can anyone recommend a good (cheapish!) set of rims?
I will also need:-
SRAM PG950 11-32T cassette,
Tektro Auriga comp 160mm rotors x 2,
a couple of quick release doodads.
Anything else?
Cheers in advance

Rotor shims so they sit in the same place.
If it is a basic cheapo pair, these will be fine:

Not a bad set really!0 -
Cheers supersonic,
They dont look too bad, lot cheaper than I thought they would be! Will be fine for the road tyres. Im sure the 'bling' fairy will force me to get some more expensive ones tho lol...
Will any 160mm brake rotors be ok? or should i try and find tektro auriga rotors?
When shimming the rotors, is it just a matter of getting the rotor 'centred' so it doesnt rub the pads, or is it more technical than that?!
I found a new SRAM PG950 11-32T cassette on ebay for about £20. Is there anything special I would have to do when fitting it? anything in particular need greasing etc.
Sorry for writing 'war and peace' lol

Just a case of making sure they are centred as you say - or will have to adjust the brakes every time you swap wheels! Still might have to tweak gears.
Cassette should be fine, just use Park Tools for fitting info.
Not sure about rotor type. Loads on ebay though!0 -
cheers dude, I will get ebaying tomorrow!
Gonna get my beauty sleep...early start in the morning, going to go exploring my first proper trail at Delamere forest. very excited
Ta for the help,

As long as the brake rotors match your hubs you will be alright, I.E six bolt.0

Cheers chaps, and thanx for the link fsr_xc.
So are all 160mm rotors the same thickness?

No, they aren't. It is the depth of the braking area too - too shallow and your pads may overlap.0

Ok, cheers supersonic.
I will try and find some Tektro Auriga comp rotors, otherwise I will end up getting the wrong sized ones and buggering the bike up
Ta pal

The Tektros are probably pretty standard though, they're more or less a knockoff of one of the old shimanos (LX?) and use the same pads, and IIRC all shimano discs are the same ID for any given OD, and I know that the shimanos also work with most other discs so... Pretty interchangable I reckonUncompromising extremist0

Aye that is true, Shimano should be fine!0

I will get my ruler out and start measuring
Im sure I will be back with some more questions later!
Cheers,

Hello again!
Right, Ive ordered a couple of Tektro Auriga rotors, same as on my bike at the mo.
Ive ordered a Sram Cassette, same as fitted to mine too.
But I still need to get some wheels!
Ive been looking around, thanx for the link supersonic, but I still cant decide.
My OP was for 'good cheap wheels', but Im willing to pay a bit more for some good wheels, with good hubs that will last!
Also, I would like to keep the 'black rim/black spoke' look, unless anyone can suggest any other colour combo to suit my Boardman.
Also, some of the wheels i was looking at had less spokes (24 for example). Would they be ok for road/path commuting? Or would they be weak/buckle prone?
I think they were Mavic Crossrides.
Thanx peeps,

Cheers Nigel!
Yeah, those wheels look good, but I dont think the blue will go with my bike
I will have a look to find some in a different colour.
I looked at merlin, but they only had a Sram PG950 11-34 cassette, not the 11-32.
I ordered mine from jejames, same price.
Cheers bud

Do you reckon they will be ok?
Formula hubs should be ok?

Fantastic, will order them!
Im on nights next week, for the first time in 7 months...will be a pleasure waiting up for all my bits to be delivered!
Then no more fannying about changing tyres over all the time, depending on where im riding. Just a quick 'pitstop'!
Cheers,

Right, have ordered everything I need now (I think!)
Will be great having a set of wheels just for commuting
Also the bonus of having spare brake rotors, cassette, rims etc incase I damage the good stuff already fitted to the bike!
Xero Cyprus wheelset £85,
Sram cassette £20,
Tektro Auriga Comp Rotors (x2) £28,
Michelin City Protek semi slicks (x2) £20 (52% off at CRC)
Not bad for £150 I reckon,
Will save me half an hour every time I swap tyres, and time is money lol
Cheers for the advice peeps
