Just to let any one who is interested in doing the Dunwich Dynamo and needs transport to get back to London after the ride, there is an early bird special on the coaches at £14 before the 31st March after that it goes up to £25. They lay on removals trucks to carry all the bikes back for those travelling by coach. It is easier than trying to get to a train station and then rely on the Sunday timetable.
I did the ride for the first time last year on my road bike and this year I am going fixed for some sick reason. It is a great laugh and for any of you who live in or near London and are free on the night, yes night 8) of the 4th July then I would highly recommend it. It is a turn up and ride event, no entry fees. There is a feed station half way where you can buy pasta soup or the like for a couple of quid. Apart from that you are on your own support wise apart from the 500+ other riders also taking part. Fingers crossed for good weather.

I definitely want to do this, but I'm probably going to have to put it off until next year, since dog/work/child logistics take some managing... and not at all because the furthest I've ridden in the last 10 years is 20 miles :oops:2008 carrera vanquish - FCN: 8

She won't be awake - she's got a display that day - so she'll never know!

That would really be embarrassing... especially as I'll be on the viner! I'm too much of a wuss to try and do it with my SS...
She's flying at London City fun day.
@Rich - it will be gratefully taken up!0 -

Sweet! There are currently at least 3 of us riding from my crowd of friends with another 2 potentials. We'll have to try and arrange a beer at the start before hand no doubt followed by the obligatory strategic stop in Epping Forest.Short hairy legged roadie FCN 4 or 5 in my baggies.

I did this back in 2006, there were people on unicycles so a fixed gear should be no problem. I did it on my mountain bike, as I didn't want to risk running skinny wheels through big potholes in the dark. Its pretty much pan flat and a nice easy ride, although it was very depressing getting caught in a downpour at 4 in the morning - ended up huddled under a tree, really wondering what the hell we were doing there. Similar situation when we arrived at a cold wet Dunwich beach, with a 4 hour wait for the bus to take us home - definitely worth doing a weather check before committing. I'd be up for it again but I'll be in Monte Carlo for the start of the tour that weekend.0

for sure
This'll be my 5th DD. I was extrmely bloody unfit last year - I'd only been cycling about 40 or 50 miles a week and I still managed to finish. This year should be a bit easier for me.
I came home on the coaches the first time, and vowed never again. Now all I have to do is cycle over to Blaxhall in the afternoon, have a couple of beers in the local pub, sleep for about 12 hours, full english breakfast - as much as you can eat - and then back on the road for the return journey. 8)0 -

The Tour is awesome to see live. Went last year and watched it on the Col de la Croix de Fer. Even my good lady loved it and she only went to humour me!Short hairy legged roadie FCN 4 or 5 in my baggies.

Yup. Riding back too. Easier than faffing with the trains or the bike coach. Takes a bit longer though.

Was going to ride back but am now doing it on the fixie so that a couple of mates have more chance of keeping up. I don't fancy 240miles of fixie riding in a day tbh. On my road bike I would def do it but this one is purely a social ride with mates who don't know the meaning of long days in the saddle.Short hairy legged roadie FCN 4 or 5 in my baggies.
