Try searching for past threads. Lots of reviews done on Focus bikes in magazines and websites, all of which seem to be very good. More difficult to fit as it's on the internet but if you are sure for the size then I think they are good buys.

Can't comment on that particular bike but the Focus Variado Expert that I bought last year is a great bike for the price. The Variado came equipped with Ultegra and Shimano RS20 wheels so for the price you get a lot for your money and I think that's true for most of the bikes in the Focus range. Sure Focus doesn't have brand name appeal (yet) but the Cayo in particular always gets a good write up from the critics as does most of the range that I have seen written up...

Ive had an Izalco Team 2008 which was a fantastic bike, just circumstances changed and I never got to put any miles on it.

I've still got a Variado Expert Ultegra and this has been great and I use that as an everyday training bike.

    Cheers,

    Pete
  • My Cayo 2007 is superb. I'm 5' 9" and went for the 54cm. Perfect fit. Handles fantastically well. Puts power down with aplomb. Stiff frame but comfortable enough for sportives. Still all stock parts. Thinking of changing Askiums at some point but I can't fault them: strong, stayed in true, reasonably light, comfortable and no flex. Can't justify the £400 that I'd need to spend to get anything noticibly better.

In the market for upgrade to bike in this range myself and after trawling web last couple of weeks had narrowed it down to this or top spec ribble.
£500 discount seems very generous so hope might be someone out there who's got one or seen one to give their view.

It's a brilliant offer - I have last year's Cayo Expert, so a similar level of kit, and it's a wonderful bike.

Ive decided on this bike now just unsure of the size im 5 11 with a inside leg of 32.5 after lookin on the focus website at the geometry of the different sizes and comparing that with my current bike which i feel has too large a reach im lookin at the medium \ 54 any body got any opinions will this be big enough? What size you thinkin of humph?

Hi, I am also looking at new bike, and wondered what the SRAM Focus gives over the 105 Focus, is it worth the £300 extra ?

IMO I think you would find the 54 too small. I reckon you need the next size up - 56/7cm?. Don't they give you a guide based on your height and inside leg measurement through the Wiggle website?
