Hi,

Just sold my trek 4300 disc ready for an upgrade through ride to work scheme. Temp I have been lent a bike till I order a new one, now there is the offer to keep this bike, which is a Klein Mantra Comp, what I want to know is if I should keep this Klein or go for the new trek 6300 or the specialized rockhopper disc like planned.

The Klein is about 12 years old but has only be rode for a max of 18months due to health reasons. The frame is a tad small but I can ride it fine.
It looks fantastic, its in a flip paint job, blue, purple to brown. Its spec is -

Front forks, Rock Shox Usa Judy T2
Rear shock - Fox Vanilla with 450 x2 spring ??
Brakes - Avilda SD 1.9L levers with shimano deore XT blocks
Gears - Shimano 8S shifters with Shimano deore XT rear derailer and deore LX front derailer.
Impel Sugino crank and pedals.
Rims - Mustang
Ritchey Complite riser with Planet X bar.

This spec is all the details I can find on the bike, it is not possible to find any more info, I believe it came from america.

So, which is best option, the free Klein or the bike to work new bikes.

Your help would be really appreciated.

Jason

Think I will try the Klein out for a couple of rides before I commit to a new purchase.

It is an old bike, with a unique suspension system, but if it does the job then might as well keep it!

Is it anything like this one?

As supersonic says, if it suits you keep it until it knackers up or you want something new. If you're itching to spend some money, might be worth seeing if anything can be upgraded on it or buy me something!!

Yeah thats the frame anyway, it must have upgraded shocks on mine.

Its not that I am itching to spend some cash, well I am actually via ride to work, but the frame is a tad small, I just get the feeling that people looking at me may think I am riding a kids bike as my knees seem to be high up.

Suppose it does not help that I am 6'1" with long legs.

The ride to work scheme is def worth taking advantage of if you think you need a new ride.

Has your company got a time limit on it? If not you could wait a while. If they do then certainly worth giving serious thought to.

If you're looking for a bike at a similar price to the two you mentioned but in my opinion better, you should look at the Genesis Core 20. Managed to get mine for £550.

To be honest I am just getting into biking and not sure whats a good bike, I have never heard of the Genesis brand so upon seeing it in evans any website list I would have skipped straight past it.
But since joining this forum I have seen it mentioned quite a bit so I am going to seriously look at getting it. Hoping for a discount as I know the manager at the bike shop.

    Cheers,

    J
