Hi,

The focus looks great but unfortunately wiggle wont ship to spain. Looking around I saw the Pinnacle Evolution 09 http://www.evanscycles.com/products/pinnacle/evolution-10-2009-mountain-bike-ec018105

It seems like a good spec for the price. This will be my first real bike so maybe im missing something. Is there anything wrong with the bike? Does anyone have any experience with the pinnacle bikes? I.

Cheers,

Rizz

Try cube, or you can get a focus on wiggle with fox forks for little over 7.

    merlin bikes are good.

That bike aint worth 850.00 rrp,

Are you sure Wiggle can't ship to Spain?

According to their website they can but it doesn't say anything about shipping bikes.

Wiggle do ship bikes to Spain free, but when you go to the part of the site for stuff they will sell to Spain, whilst there are a lot of bikes, Focus are not amongst them.

I would guess that Focus don't want Wiggle encroaching on their Spanish dealers.

    Hey,

Yeah wiggle ship most of their bikes to spain but when I go to the focus page it says they cant ship that bike. You get the same thing with evans and specialized bikes. I agree with alfablue that it must be to do with the spanish dealers. The specialized bikes are about 20% more expensiv here......

I guess worse case scenario is I buy bike and travel bag and wait till I pop back to the UK and bring it over on BA.

The other option is the pinnacle, Hows your frame holding up cat with no tail?

Mine is holding up well fella, it is a really good quality bike with a frame Geometry that I really like. I have to say, I think that the '08 bikes were a little better specced than the new '09 bikes. But looking round at other manufacturers, I think the same applies all round.

What I cant understand is this, if you live in Spain, why not just buy a Focus from a local store? As a German company, dealing in Euros, surely you would get a better deal buying locally.

Where in Spain are you? I know that Focus have dealers in the following parts of Spain:

Hope this is of some help mate.
  • I've had mine for about 2 months now - purchased through the cycle to work scheme (and yes, in case the tax man is reading, I have been cycling to work on it).

Must admit I'm no expert, and this is my first new bike for 12+ years, but it seems pretty good to me.
It came down to a choice between Genesis Core 30, Specialized Rockhopper Disc Pro, and the Pinnacle - and as even I'd heard of Specialized I figured most robbin tea-leafs where I live would have heard of it too.
Having purchased a Skoda Octavia 4 years back I'm not scared off by choosing a less trendy brand, and a colleague of mine (a proper mountain biker unlike me) who checked out the spec's of the Pinn reckoned it looked pretty good.
Been out on Cannock Chase trails a fair few times after work, and its been to Scotland on holiday, and I can't find fault. Most noticeable is the weight, which to you lot out there might not be impressive, but having changed from a 1990's Halford's special (made out of cast iron and reinforced concrete, ) this thing is so light its unbelievable. Humping it over stiles is simple now - no more lung busting and vein popping needed.
Only thing I have changed is to swap the bars for a set of Nuke Proof risers (1.5") just to make the front end match the raised saddle. As a review I have read said, the frames are probably a little tight, so if you are on the cusp of 2 sizes- choose a bigger one (although that might be inexperience as my dangly bits just rest on the top tube when astride it).
Don't let the lack of a brand name put you off - its less stealable than some others, and if it was a choice between a Specialized and a Pinnacle for the same price - I'd put money on the cost of the word 'Specialized' being a fair proportion of the price.
Anyway - off to soak by tender rear end now after acting like a big kid on the ash-mounts near my house!

Could I call myself a respectable Pinnacle owner without putting my opninion on here? :P

I bought the cheapest Pinnacle on the market and after upgrading almost everything but the frame I am extremly happy with the frame indeed. Being the cheapest bike that Evans do I wasn't expecting the components to be fantastic and I got what I payed for in that department, my main attention was on whether the frame would be upgradable and it has been amazing for a hands-on person like me eager to upgrade everything (please no comments on that being expensive, I and my bank manager are more than aware thank you :) )

At the end of the day if the components are good and match other big-brand bikes in that price range you only need to worry about the frame and the Pinnacle frames have never gotten a bad review (Trust me, I desperatly hunted for one online before buying mine in Jan)

    [/Fanboy outburst]

I am with the Tail-less Cat on this one, buying locally would be best.
