is there a point to replacing pedals

my Shimano R540 SPD SL Road Pedals are pretty scrached but can i my performance benifit from new pedals, even if i dont upgrade the model?

in other words

old for new, like for like upgrade will it improve performance?

No. I've got £40 Look Keos on one bike and £140 Keos on the other. Can't tell the difference...apart from in my wallet

but the havent fallen out. they are mushed at the back and have scrached ugly

very good pedals imo. If you really want to upgrade, you could do a lot worse.

They come with cleats, grey ones I think which are middle of the road in terms of float.

Shimanos should be ok, that's what I use. Have you got three holes in the sole that form a triangle?

You can blame your parents 'til you're blue in the face. At the end of the day when you reach adult hood you make your own decisions, if you choose to take the weeknesses of your parents then thats that individuals choice. There's plenty of people who've had bad up-bringings and have made good of there life and just as equally it works vice versa with people with good up bringings who turn ut bad so...... 8)
