Hello,

New to all this, have purchased a Carrera Subway Zero (ss) have fitted a computer (thanks for you help).

I am very pleased with the bike thus far (although may have to increase the gearing at some point)

Would like some ideas of what to upgrade, dont say the bike i know carrera doesnt have a good rep but seemed an ideal 1st serious bike.

I am currently looking at the following:

-change the stock tyres
-pedals perhaps clipless

views on the above and any other recs would be great,

thanks again

colin

What tyres do you have at the moment?

Clipless is a good move. Just take a bit of getting used to.

Edinburgh bikes do the clipless-on-one-side-and-normal-on-the-other pedals. I just switched to clipless, and they make a huge difference!

Mind, you'll need the shoes for it. I've had these basic shimano ones for a while, they are pretty good.

They come with a screwed on cover for the cleat attaching bits that just unscrews when you want to take them off. Even on flat pedals the stiffness of the soles helps a lot.

Have you got proper cycle shorts/ under shorts yet? A decent BG saddle is nice too!

ADDS oh I see the BG Stumpy is now £35! Not spd tho...

Get some apprpriate clothing, especially a lightweight waterproof that can be carried with you in a pocket. But put it on early, nothing spoils a ride like getting wet then "boil-in-a-bag" for the rest of the journey.

The Ay-ups? You could order a set from the world shop on the Australian website.

Seems pretty good value at the moment, although you'll need to factor in customs charges.
