Hi,
I am coming into road riding from mtn biking to gain fitness and to enjoy a different style of riding and was hoping for some advice.
I am 6ft 3" (189cm) tall with an inseam of 89cm and looking at either the Bianchi, Fuji or Trek bikes with a budget of upto around £925. The Bianchi is coming up at £740, Fuji at £825 and the Trek at £925. Does anyone have any information or feedback on the bikes and a feeling on the different costs?
In terms of sizing I tried the Trek for size at my LBS and the 60cm bike seemed a good fit but I wasn't able to try a 62cm version for comparison unfortunately. I am struggling to find anywhere locally with either the Fuji or Bianchi to try sizing. Does anyone have similar sizing to myself with these bikes that an advise or does anyone else have info that may help? Evans have all bikes available except the 61cm Fuji which I think would likely be the size I would need.
Any help on the quality of these bikes in comparison of each other would be great, thanks guys

Being 6' 3" myself I went for a 60cm Trek and it has been great. Struggled with a few other manufacturers to get a perfect fit although it is different for every bike. Some people who are the same height are riding bikes that are 56/58cm so best advice is to get properly measured and see what the stats say.
The Bianchi is a good bike and lots of people will sing it's praises as is Trek but I haven't heard much on the Fuji bike though. What about Focus as for another £100 you could get a carbon?
I haven't looked back after buying the Trek though, Ultegra all round so no changing expensive parts in the immediate future although rims may be on the cards!
Enjoy whatever you get.0 -
weepiglet,
thanks for your advice, as you hve Ultegra I presume you went with a Trek 1.9?
I have looked at the Focus but the problem I have there is I am buying off the internet without seeing the bike and it is more than the others listed. My total budget was going to be £1k but I wanted to buy pedals/shoes etc with some of the money.Orange 5 Pro 2008

hey guys anyone else have any advice? I have also looked at the halfords range of boardman bikes but it looks like I may struggle to get an XL frame and I am not too sure if I want to use them due them their less than helpful approach!Orange 5 Pro 2008

I am like you coming to road from MTB'ing.I've just got a Trek 1.7(March anyway).Have to say its great does everything I need it to do apart from going up the hills- gotta get used to the higher gearing yet, gets me some miles in the legs, goes like stink, pretty damn good.I'm not an authority on road but I would imaging that by the time your paying nearly 1k any bike choice will be pretty good. The components are good, frames etc, etc.

Thanks vey much for the feedback. I have just been to evans and tried a 62cm frame which feels more comfortable than the 60cm I tried at the weekend. My LBS are selling for £924 and giving 10% of the value worth of vouchers for accesories etc. Can't find the bike any cheaper.Orange 5 Pro 2008
