    This is the kind of stage where Dr Ferrari would say having a big tank, rather than big engine is important.

    Having tried big mountains in the heat for many hours, I can tell you it fills me with dread. It is however exciting and great to watch. Rather them than me.

    Indeed. I'm hoping he can do something and hang on for a stage win. Behind him I'm hoping that there are some attacks to test out some of the GC boys.

    scarponi seems to have neglected the "being miles ahead in unlikely fashion" part of the dumping water on head strategy.

    Popo is flying on the descent. Putting in many secs into Cunego.

    It must be the extra weight of his ice pack under his jersey...surely that type of thing would weigh them down on the climbs.
