Hardtail Frames

I've finally decided I can't take the pain much longer and am going to buy a properly sized frame. I currently have a small (17") XTC and aside from the sizing find it pretty decent although I haven't ridden many other hardtails to compare it to.
I'm about 6"1 and am looking at large XTC frames (21") which seem to sell on ebay for around the £100 mark.
Are there any other frames I should be looking at for light XC use?
The giant seems to be incredibly light for it's price and wouldn't want anything much heavier unless there was a good reason for it.

for a 6'1" a 21" frame sounds too big for XC use. also all a frame size number is is to show that is different to the ones either side in that range. there are more things to consider that the "size"

get yourself to a shop and get the correct size. Oh you may find you need a new fork as IIRC giant make the head tubes longer on the bigger frames.

Sorry, my mistake. I think the Large XTC frame are 20" or 19.5".
The reason I assumed large for the size was because of this label on a large frame.

The problem with getting sized in a shop is that the nearest giant stockist is a long way away and the shop tends to not be very helpful or terribly knowledgeable and so I doubt they would be much help with sizing.

I also would feel slightly guilty using a shop just for sizing and then buying elsewhere.

It is just a guideline. Bike fit depends on so much more than a seat post measurement and nominal size.

Also now looking at the charge duster in Medium.
Looks like a really nice frame but it's steel so there's a massive weight penalty over the XTC...

    Hmm..
