VDO computers: wireless vs. wire, and cadence function

Hi
I thinking of getting the VDO C4 DS or the VDO C3 DS, I'm also considering the wired versions; are the wireless versions of these reliable or would it be better to save money and gop with the wired versions.
The other reason for going wireless is the option of adding cadence; does anyone know if it record Max, Min, and average cadence for review later and not just display it on your ride?
Finally are there any other options for computers I should take a look at.
Thanks for your help

I'd look at Cateye as well.
VDO make speedos for Mercedes cars, so they ought to be good.0 -
Thanks DFC. Considering the Strada Cadence as well.
No one have any experience of VDO's or have I put this in thread in the wrong location to get answers?"You can plan for the life you're supposed to have, but when you try to make plans, God is known to laugh"

I have a VDO HC12.6 and love it. It's a wired one, batteries last longer and I prefer the reliability. Nice big display too.
They are really well made. They just have a very solid feel to them compared to the Cateyes I've used in the past. I failed to fit mine to its mount properly one evening and it jumped from the bars and got run over by about 8 cars before a space in the traffic allowed me to go and get it. There's barely a scratch on it and it still works perfectly 4 years on.0 -
Interesting, I saw the strada's yesterday and the do look fragile.
Probably should have posted in the buying advice section..."You can plan for the life you're supposed to have, but when you try to make plans, God is known to laugh"

I have the C3 DS Wireless, seems decent, it has temporarily stopped reading once for a bout 10 seconds, I assume it was interfering with something.
Well built and does the job!0 -
According to the VDO manual, if there is interference so the display stops registering temporarily, the data is still being stored and is registered when the interference stops.
I am a VDO fan, after the factory in Germany sent me a completely new and upgraded digital replacement for my old analogue computer that packed up - after 8 years!!! I didn't expect that at all, just sent the computer back to ask if a repair was possible, got the new one (a C3 DS) by return of post with an apology saying my old computer was obsolete! Beat that for service!!! (They have a standard 5 year warranty as well). So I would never have any qualms about buying VDO.
(Compared to Cateye, my warranty claim was completely ignored by the UK importer, Zyro).
I have a Cateye Strada too (a gift), it is small and neat, easy to read, slightly illogical functioning and very unhelpful manual, but as Cateye's go I think its a good one. Still wouldn't expect any warranty support from them though, so don't deserve my £'s.0 -
Thanks guys
Sounds like VDO is a good choice then. I would go for the C3, but i'm now wondering whether I might as well go for the C2. As I don't think i'll be using the extra features that the C3 has, it does look better though and there isn't much difference in the price..."You can plan for the life you're supposed to have, but when you try to make plans, God is known to laugh"
