Has anyone bought and used any Gore clothing recently ?
Their stuff looks the dogsbollox in the May C+ page 41.
Mind you if I had a physique like the model i reckon i'd look good in rags
i'd like to try and co-ordinate my cycle clothing a bit more and thought this stuff looked good .
Is it good value for money ? what is the fit and durability like on their stuff ?
Wheres the best place to buy for price?

It's great stuff, looks good, functionally excellent and lasts well.
Search for each item individually, some places do certain items miles cheaper than elsewhere.

Evans Cycles have had a fair amount of Gore kit on sale recently - I bought a bunch and it's excellent. There's not too much left now, though you may pick up some larger sizes.
Dales also have a couple of jerseys half price - a bit winter-orientated as one's windproof and the other thermal. I've got the Contest in yellow and it's nicely made and very bright. My only gripe is that it's only got one rear pocket.

I've just seen the price of the bibshorts £139.00 almost as much as Assos !. thats too cynical for me. No pair of lycra shorts is worth that much  especially as customers advertise their gear for free as well.0

It's cut for the fuller, Germanic figure in comparison to Italian clothing so fit is on the 'generous' side, so definitely need to try for sizeMake mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

Gore ozon bib are excellent shorts and would reccomended them highly. Reviews have actually said that you may need to buy the next size up to what you think you need because of their sizing. I measured up for a medium pair and they fit fine, thought the large size would be too big so went by the numbers not reviews.0

That's in comparison to a lot of Italian-sized stuff whose makers seem to assume that everyone who rides is an emaciated dwarf.
Bike clothing sizing is a total mess. The worst example I have seen is a Colombian-made jersey that's a nominal XL. If it were a t-shirt, it'd be a medium. Just.John Stevenson0 -
I just purchased a Gore Xenon II Short Sleeve Jersey and it is very comfortable. Last night was quite warm on my ride and i did not feel at all uncomfortable. I will be getting some Gore Xenon Sonic Bib Shorts as soon as funds allow. Assos are supposed to be the dogs b*llocks but Gore seems to be pretty good as well.0

Gore bikewear is fantastic , great cut , clean and well thought out , top quality , great fabrics and always long lasting
I always look at Gore first before buying anything , and as a 6foot tall 13stone guy the XL fits perfect on all my gear
cheers

There's not a lot in it between the top Gore shorts and the Assos ones IMO...
I have both and feel the Assos are slightly more comfortable but the Gore ones are still very very good.0 -
It's really good stuff and the sizing is similar to the high street unlike many other Ita cycling clothing manufacturers.'Happiness serves hardly any other purpose than to make unhappiness possible' Marcel Proust.0

The tight Gore tops do not look good on those of us with, um, "ample" waistlines. Unlike Rapha which is very flattering to the well-nourished fellow.08 Commencal Meta 5.5.2

If you happen to look at tops / jackets there are 3 different fits in the range: loose slim & tight.
Loose fits pretty accurately: if you normally wear a medium it's probably a medium.
Slim fit will often mean going up a size.
Tight fit I haven't tried but I would guess it's the same as Slim.Trek Fuel EX8 090 -
Gore kit is fantastic. I bought a Gore gore-tex jacket in 1999 - its been worn countless times but it still looks and performs great (although the goretex has lost a bit of its breathability). If you read through the reviews you'll see their water and wind-proofs always score very highly.
If you are patient, Gore do sometimes do clear-outs, unlike some of the other quality brands, so you can get them cheap. My LBS did a big clear out sale last autumn and I got some Gore kit (shorts, touring shorts, tops) at less than half price. The quality is great, but what stands out is the attention to detail, things like pocket design, grippers, etc., are all very well thought out. The sizing is right for me, but maybe that just means I am.... fat :oops:0
