I use it after every ride - seems to work well but you need something different for the chain.

Can't say I've ever tried it but a sponge and soapy water with a bit of elbow grease works well for me and for anything thats really bad I just soak it in some degreaser.

Muc off seems to be well thought of though but make sure you wash it completely off as it will probably eat away at your bike.

    Get some fenwicks concentrate.

Undiluted it works as a degreaser...water it down and you have an awesome cleaner.

£8/9 for a litre bottle of undiluted makes around 10 litres diluted.

£6/7 for a litre of Muc Off....I'll let you do the math.

And I think I see it in being used in virtually every bike shop I've been in.

Muc off does the job but damn it's a rip off......sorry expensive.

  • Ditto on the Fenwicks - I dilute it to about 20-1 and it's great for cleaning. Spray on and hose off agitating with a brush at the same time!

Just started to use Fenwicks, I was using Weldtite Dirtwash before that which was about £3 from Wilkinson for a litre.

Fenwicks is just as good and a lot cheaper, winner.

Ive got a can of that stuff! Its a bit like GT85, Ive found that if you spray it on a clean frame then it keeps it cleaner by stopping so much mud sticking.

Gives a glossy shine but wears off pretty quick, and its expensive

That's why I use it -lubes a bit but also makes mud fall off. So most of the time my bike just needs a quick hose off and no scrubbing after a ride.

    I'd go for GT85 personally.

But a mate uses WD40 and has no issues.......

Your mate cleans his bike with WD40?
  • In some previous magazines Ive read, it says all you need is 'fairy liquid'. However I don't see why, as it contains a lot of salt and increases speed of rusting!

By the way I'm for FENWICKS!

Muck Off works a treat but its sooooo expensive to use regularly. Recently switched to Fenwicks and it works out much cheper and seems just as good when diluted.

Just wash it all down with heaps of clean water to get all the detergents off, then use something to get the water out of the hard to reach places, I was hoping that the BikeSpray was different to WD40, GT85 etc... as they are light oils and get all cacked up again. Is the BikeSpray a silicone type stuff or an oil? :?

Caravan cleaner at Aldi at the moment, no solvents/bleach/abrasives, £2.99 for a litre of concentrate. 10ml makes a litre, so £2.99 for 100 litres!!

I bought the Muc-Off £30 kit years ago and still use it. It lasts for ages, comes with a set of good brushes (to get into all areas). I recommend it 100%

No - he uses WD40 in the same way as Muc Off bike spray (not the cleaning fliud).

I use fairly liquid (or Sainsburys to be precise) as a cleaner, but all the talk of it speeding up rust is cobblers if you rinse properly eh?
