Does any know if the free to view channels will carry the Tour de France this year? I am fearful that the deep pockets over at Sky will be looking for their ransom :( .

Rest easy, ITV have the contract for the TdF for at least a couple more years, either 2012 or 2013. So providing they still exist, Sky would have to buy them out of it.

Also, a much speculated point, but if Sky want to use their pro team to showcase and advertise Sky, they're better off leaving the Tour on terresterial channels where it'll pick up a higher (non-Sky) audience. I'm sure there's been an interview or comment a while back where Sky did actually say that sponsoring the team didn't automatically mean they wanted the Tour on their channels.
