Doesn't it feel fab.

I've had a brill week into work . Normally it takes me between 36 and 38 mins to get in, though I've dipped under 35mins once. Mind you when I ride my MBT it takes about 50 and I'm knackered! But I've had my hybrid for almost a year now.

Then this week
- 33:37 on mon, a personal best.
- 32:27 on tue, very chuffed with myself
- 33:14 on wed, disappointed, but hey still second best.
- 31:27 on thurs, hence a very happy bunny today. :D

I'm assuming most of you time yourselves. I'm slightly obsessed, I know where I should be during every min of the journey.

It's only 8 miles so I'm sure those of you on a road bike are thinking 'What's she doing? having a chat on the way?!' But I don't care. I'm pleased with myself.

I find beating my times much better than a scalp, though I enjoy that too. Except when it happens to me.

8 miles is the same as me - 31 mins sounds lovely! But then I have a big(ish) hill in the middle and LOTS of stoplights, traffic and roundabouts (and a couple of rather fast over/underpasses I don't dare ride seeing the cars that whip over/through them).

My PB has come in at about 34 mins, once 33 on the way home - but due to tailwinds, those were....

When I was pushing to get the 21 miles under the hour mark last summer, the best advice I had [on here] was to ride on the clock [not avg speed, distance etc] and know what times various marker points should come up - 12 mins for the first roundabout, 16:30 for the pub with no roof, 28:30 for the golf club etc etc onto 57:40 for the glider club on the final run in.

It was hugely satisfying to hit the car park on 59:58, and a real monkey off my back moment. I now glide in at reasonable to mad speeds as it suits, but yes, the setting & beating of successive PBs is v satisfying.

i collected my approx 12mi commute pb at 35:40 a couple of weeks ago but that was heavily wind assisted (20mph).

unassisted i have managed 36:10. i set myself the target at the start of march to do the commute in under 40mins as often as possible. eventually i'd like to get the average speed up to 20mph but i think that it will be longer term goal!

i'm sure the warmer weather helps with these times - sarajoy, just think how much faster you will go in august when the schools are out and there is less traffic!

Yes I am just obsessed, often come home with a big grin on my face.

Managed a double PB yesterday for my 16.2 mile communte, my first over 30km/h average as recorded by my cycle computer (stops when speed drops to 0) and also quickest absolute time by 2 mins which includes all stops.

I also know exactly where I should be at what point on the ride home.

Not looking forward to tonight though as the wind has shifted round so it's a double headwind day :(

    errr....

I count on an hour for my 14.5 miles so 33 minutes for 8 is excellent going :D

I've got a personal best of 45 minutes though and am now usually in between 50 and 55 minutes.

Mind you, like yourself I know whereabouts I *should* be at each stage of the commute and approximately (well, almost exactly) what time I will be in at work, all things being equal.

I don't get the opportunity to SCR much and what opposition there is tends to be full sus MTBs bouncing down the road. so I use my times to beat myself up as well :)

My biggest obstical is the esculators at the pedestrian tyne tunnel. Even when they aren't switched on, they're still quicker than the lift. If theyn't on it's 130 steps, but if they are on it's only 90. They are also very slow (and wooden!!) So my 31:27 doesn't include the walk up or run down the esculators.
