Can anyone recomend a lube for general use/all year round or are better using different lubes for summer and winter?

Seriously? I read that this was the bees knees, and my LBS swears by it. I'm more than happy to be corrected on it, but - seriously - what's the deal with it? Is it bat's p!ss?

My LBS recommended it as a cleaner - but then to use lube (fnarr etc...).

Bit too light-weight to be used as a chain lube (in the UK at least), ok for spraying on your mech or as a cleaner as chrisnoir states.

It strips the lube out of the inner of the chain... no it doesn't... it will ruin the life of your chain.... well I have used WD40 for years and never had a problem....you should use propper lube after each ride.... no you shouldn't.... I can spin up hills at 150rpm, (shoot, sorry wrong thread!)...
That summarises where we will go.

In my humble opinion, I was given some GT85 spray by my (poor) LBS and have used it on my commuting bike for a week or so to clean the chain before re lubing. I feel that the re-lube does not last very long at all and now have to re-lube far more than before I started using GT85 so will not use it in future.

Its probably the second most argued about thing on here, after groupset manufacturers. Citrus degreaser in a Park Tools chain cleaner and finishline dry afterwards.

Squirt Lube is my new favourite. Nice and clean and super quiet.

Not sure if it'll be good enough for the winter though - last year I used ProLink Gold which was very good too - just messier to apply.
I'm left handed, if that matters.

I've gone the same path as k-dog. Was using ProLink Gold but it is not easy to apply. The fluid is very thin and the application nozzle or spout is badly designed so its very hard to do a controlled dribble on the chain whilst turning the cranks in reverse. As its thin I was finding it was dripping through the chain onto the floor and onto my rear wheel when applying. Needed to then degrease the rim.

Have just got some Squirt Lube. Have done a couple of initial applications after thoroughly cleaning the chain but haven't been out yet - don't want to get the chain dirty...

I use Finish Line Dry Teflon Lube. Ok it does not last long in wet conditions but in the dry will last a hell of a long time and should "hopefully" not attract the dust.

    OIL :D
Any type, 3 in one, engine oil, gear oil, just apply and wipe off excess with a cloth with a little GT85 or WD40 on.

I've only ever used GT85 since I got my bike, which is used all year round, and it's kept the drivechain in great nick. Good for the lazy man (e.g. me), as it's really easy to apply too. Tbh ask whether any product is good and you'll get some people saying it's the bee's knees and others equally adamant that it's worthless crap; you'll just have to suck it and see!

GT85 is great, I always use it in the summer because stuff doesn't stick to the bits as much. Only apply it via a cloth though.
