Sorry about another "what tyre thread" but I am struggling to find relevant posts.
I have a mega tight budget due to bike / running / anything that involves exercise hating wife. (note to self: get new one  )
What is the best tyre between Bontager Hardcase Lite and Rubino Pro? I need to be as p**ctur* proof as possible as I am currently experiencing at least 2 a week ! The roads near me are shocking - potholes and debris.

    Rubino Pro.
  • After some p
s I bought the Bontys and not one since (only a few 100 miles on them though). Many say they are v tough.

I do recommend them. However, they are q a heavy rolling tyre. Sometimes I'd wish for something with a zippier feel, but it's worth it for the relative p
    resistance.

Can't comment on the Bonti as I've never used them.

I use the Rubino Pro though and have commuted almost daily (15 miles) on them for about 7 months now and not yet had a puncture (hope thats not the kiss of death). They roll well and are light at about 220 gms - also very reasonably priced - try Ribble. They can be a bitch to put on some rims though!!

Bontrager. My g/f has had them on her commute bike for 2 years and only one puncture (by a shard of glass). I had krylion and Bonty s and the Krylion had 3 punctures the Bonty 0. V.hard wearing tyre, not the most supple but imo one of the best commute tyres out there. All Terrain Cycles used to do them for £10 each

Both are equally good, but the Hardcase feels really heavy compared to the Vittoria I used to use the Hardcase but now decided to stick with Vittoria Rubino Pro 2 ( the pro 2 is quite light marketed at 210g)

    Hi,

Wondered where this thread was going as I will need tyres soon.

Regarding punctures - I have not got any since I started checking the tyre pressure regularly. Coincidence? I don't think so, so that is my top tip.

My tyres in this time have been Conti Ultra Gator and Bonti Hard Case Lite.
None of the above should be taken seriously, and certainly not personally.

I have only used the Bontragers. They last for years and I don't think I've had a single puncture with them.
However I only use them on my winter bike as they do feel a bit slow nothing terrible but you feel more like slow steady riding rather than bursts of acceleration. They would spoil the feel of a decent carbon machine.
