Bottom Bracket

I've got a Carrera Virtuoso on which the bottom bracket sounds like it is finally giving up the ghost.

Anyone know:
- what the standard replacement unit would be?
- what mid-range upgrade would be suitable?

I'm new-ish to road bikes and do about 100m p/w on fairly stiff hills.

it's probably a square taper unit - I can't tell from the pics I've just looked at - do you know?

You need to know the axle width, so you'll either need to remove it and measure/look, or if you have a spec sheet for the bike it might say.

If it's not square taper then it'll be ISIS I suspect.
