Eastbourne Cycle club

I am starting a new cycle club called Eastbourne Cyclefit
At the moment there are only local cycle clubs for the seriously committed riders
My aim is to start a free club for all ages, levels of experience and fitness.
Just to have a meeting place, time and date so like minded people can meet others and enjoy riding and exploring others routes

I'm a bit too far away, but I think it's a great idea.
Cycling clubs can be very intimidating IMOhttp://www.KOWONO.com - Design-Led home furniture and accessories.0 -
The Eastbourne club already in existence is a joke! The last two Sundays I've gone to the meeting place at the designated time and no one has turned up! How do they expect to attract new members if they can't be relied upon.
It's good that someone is forming a rival so the old establishment can perk up their ideas!0 -
Well i have kept away from weekends at the moment, form my experience weekends for most people are packed full of family, gardens and chores,
the club is called cyclefit because i want to angle it to fitness rather that the cycling, there are so many people out there that want to get fit/lose weight and have the his and hers bikes in the garage for when they get around to it. lol
What is the world comming to when people with bike in the garage pay to got to a gym and cylce a fake bike with no joy at all.
this club hopes to get those bikes lubed, oiled, pumped and ready
once the club a good strong membership level we may think about a day at the weekend and as the summer fades we may have to
The idea of the club is a working progress, base on me, that rides every tues and thurs and hope to do the london to brighton next year
every time i ride i see others doing the same, it did not take me long to think we should be doing it together, for more fun, better motivation and safety
I have had time to get flyers in the local shops yet but it's on my to do list0 -
Good luck starting up your own Club! I'm a member of a similar Club in Newcastle, which has been going for years, called NOAC. They're based on a yahoo emailing list and it works wonderfully well, and the best thing is there's no committee, so no politics! Just cycling for fun at all levels!0

Hi Acelliott
I am in Eastbourne & would love to join your club. I emailed you, but maybe you didn't get it? Anyway I could make tues/thurs eve and will be very local to the Pevensey Rec. I am not confident on the road by myself, I have had a look at the various routes, and they look good I am average fitness, and would welcome the chance to get my bike outta the garage more often! I only do the Cuckoo Trail every now & then
I tried ringing the Eastbourne section of the CTC but the woman is never in for enquiries & as rbirkett says, it's no fun turning up to be let down
Hope you are still thinking of going ahead with this
all the best.0
