Tricross (sort of road bike...) - is the Comp worth it?

As subject states, looking to get a Spesh Tricross and not sure if the Comp is worth the extra £500 over the Sport model.
Can someone please blind me with some facts - to a total non roadie like me (but MTB a lot) the specs differences are a bit meaningless.
Is it much lighter and ermmmm better?
Happy to shell out more if it's worth it.

Hi Matt - tough chice really... all depends on what you want from it....
frame is a bit better, although not much in it (fork is the same)
wheels are a bit better - branded hubs slightly better rims
biggest difference is the drivetrain - the sport has a triple at the front and 9 speed rear but the comp has a compact double and 10speed cassette which means with the comp you'll be using the front changer less and the back more, the shifting will be closer ratio'd so smoother and more road orientated
the comp will be lighter, although the tricross isn't designed as a skinny road ripper so I don't know how much of an issue that is
I would say that they are both good, how much you will ride it depends on whether the extra £500 is worth it"I get paid to make other people suffer on my wheel, how good is that"

Ed - the "plan" is to use it for Winter training - have got sick of gloopy winter MTB rides where all my kit blows up within weeks.
Also something I could use for the odd triathlon if needed.
Did a full off road one this weekend (sea swim, MTB race, cliff run) and am now hooked! However there aren't many tris that include MTBing.0 -
You have an MTB already - so why not just get a road bike ? If you like tris anyway you'll be after a road bike soon anyway.
Cross bike doesnt seem to make much sense really ?0
