Can anyone explain to me the point of bib shorts? I've been cycling along happily for years with my gut hanging over my shorts, what advantage would the bib give me?

I'm going to have to wait until after the weekend to try mine but should have them in time for the Chiltern 100 :D

They let you clown about like Borat? 8) Its a bit like that movie a few years ago, where the baseball pitcher wore fishnet tights to improve his game... If nothing is working - new bike, training, diet etc - perhaps give them a try!

The other solution to keeping shorts up was to have an elasticated waist band and braces. This is uncomfortable on longer rides.
To err is human, but to make a real balls up takes a super computer.

They allow for some fantastic Freddie Mercury impressions.

Yep. I find the shorts elasticated waist digs into my overly large gut, I also had to pull them up occasionally. Not so with the bibs. My issues are probably negated by not being such a fat b*st*rd though!

Can you get ones with the rainbow jersey-style pattern for We Are The Champions-themed impersonations?

Bibs also give a bit more cover to the lower back, good when in a chilly tailwind.
