I've never bough more than one thing from one seller before.
The postage is £3, but £1 for every item after that.
If i'm having to buy each item seperately, how do they charge the lower postage price?
does that make sense?
I hate ebay.

they will send them as one so it should cost less to post"we're a forum of pointless upgraders, depreciation maximisers, and diminishing returns addicts"0

Sellers dont have to offer any discount, ebay recommend you do so people spend more money with you if that makes sense.
Ive had some right nobs try charging me £6 postage for headset spacers before. Yeah righto mate cause it really costs that much doesnt it.0 -
you just pay for all the postage costs like normal then the seller refunds the postage money you should save from buying multiple items0

If only!
Ive been buying and selling on ebay for nearly 5 years and ive never ever known of a seller to do that! haha like i said before some sellers will offer you a discount, some dont, fact is they dont have to, its there choice not a ebay rule.
Same thing with returns, I accept returns on anything i sell as long as there returned within 7 days in the same state i sent them, some people dont, its seller dependant, not an ebay rule.0 -
hmm. so even though it says a reduced postage for multiple items, theres no guarantee?
sod it then, i'll pay £5 extra retail.0 -
If it specifies that he does reduced postage then has has to honur it. As long as it specifies it its ok and he has to do it.0

Don't pay until you've conatcted the seller. You can request an invoice but it's better to be cheeky and say I've bought a load, can you combine and reduce the postage. They're under no obligation to do so but most will (I will if someone asks, but if they've already paid well........ ).
Mr Wu
Take your point but with Ebay you get to see the postage charges up front. It's a well known scam to offer items dirt cheap and then make the money on the postage, if you don't like the postage costs don't bid, simple as. You need to consider it all in. Always amazes me how many people don't factor in postage when they bid.
It also pisses me off a bit when people complain about postage without having asked up front. I sold 7Kg of metal Meccano (clue in the listing) to some knob in Sweden (don't think it was Nick ). Didn't email me up front to ask how much. He bid £ 37 and it then cost over £ 40 to post. He whinged in his feedback that I could have used a cheaper carrier, you can't get much cheaper than parcel farce and he should have asked before bidding. Don't think a lot of buyers realise how expensive postage can be, especially if they don't want to wait for week before it turns up.
[/rant]It's easier to ask for forgiveness than for permission.
I've bought a new bike....ouch - result
Can I buy a new bike?...No - no result0 -
hmmm... well like I said I was only saving a fiver so i'll just get it retail.
I really don't like ebay tbh.0 -

I do have a look at the postage and know all about the scam. BUT... if you bid on something and win it, you can go via ebay and say the seller has unreasonable postage charges. Funnily enought ebay has set limits on postage now dependant on which service you choice, i think its about £4.50 max with the royal mail standard options.
I agree with you second comment, i too have had that with something slightly different, was a whole bunch of football shirts/tops/shorts etc, ive never heard someone moan so much as it came to £10 postage, but it weighed a bloody tonne! People do expect something for nothing. Like me :-)0 -

Wasn't aware of that. I usually use first class mail for posting stuff out as it gets there quicker, can easily be £ 12 plus. That said I usually use the sellers standard rate option rather than be explicit about which postage option I use. If someone asks specifically I'll tell them and stick to whatever I've said.
Using first class costs usually covers me a bit if I've misjudged the weight (sometimes packaging puts you over), nine times out of ten I'll send first class unless the item has gone for peanuts or the buyer is being an ar*e  .
And another thing (now you've got me going )
What's with the 14 day PayPal rule, no feedback means you can't get at your money for 14 days just cos some git of a buyer can't be bothered to feedback, now that is annoying. It's easier to ask for forgiveness than for permission.

Yeah I noticed it when i listed an orange bar and stem (as one thing) and it wouldnt let me set it at £5. It kept saying MAX £4.50. So i did what you said and put it as sellers standard rate!
I only ever send anything special delivery,(unless it goes for peanuts) as its the only postage option that paypal will cover you for, even recorded delivery isnt enough.
WTF is the 14 day thing? when did that come out? i never knew about that. TBH im pretty sure i managed to get my money straight away but that was last month... so has it changed since then? Thats truly gash. I think the whole power thing is going to the buyers, and more and more sellers are getting ripped off (more than already) with ebay and paypal charge backs. I had some wanker buy something from me, he contacted ebay saying it wasnt as described so i told him to send it back and he sent me back his one that he owned, not the one i actually sent him! Paypal refunded him his money and i ended up with a pile o shite. makes me laugh that ebay say you HAVe to offer paypal, i hate it and would prefer cheque or PO. There are so many ways around the paypal thing as a buyer its just daft. Like the whole sending stuff to confirmed addresses only. there anret that many buyers that have confirmed there address, and who fault is it if the item goes missing?> the sellers. its a forking joke.0 -
Use Woolyhatshop...always free postage0
-
ok ebay scam number1
buy item and pay
when item arrives start SNAD dispute through resolution centre
paypal will require that you return the goods and get proof of delivery
just return an identical package with something of equal weight as the item (sand or cat litter tray contents are popular)
paypal will refund when you input the tracking number
:evil:0 -
Paypal money on hold whilst you wait for feedback.......
easy
just send a 1p refund to the buyer and the money is now unlocked (this may have changed but worked around xmas time)0 -

im talking about sellers who acctualy offer reduced delivary when you scroll to the bottom of the page not just any seller0 -
Likewise, bought some stuff on eBay recently and they offered free postage but tried to charge £2 at POS, so emailed them and they sent a new invoice for me to pay...easy.0
