What a load of bollox
Bike Parkour ffs, this kind of street riding was derived from trials and has been developing for the last 10 years or so, just look at any back issue of MBUK. Danny is good, but there are other equally good riders out there, just do a search for Ryan Leach, or any multitude of other riders.
Then again I don't know why I'm surpised, it's just the sort of misinformed crap I expect from a Murdoch owned rag
Rant over, I feel much better nowpain is temporary, the glory of beating your mates to the top of the hill lasts forever.....................

Rich, to the noob it looks amazing, regardless of how many other people there are out there who do it. Danny had a massive bonus in that he was working with a very skilled (and patient) filmmaker, making a proper film, making it instantly accessible and professional.
On top of that, he seems like a nice guy, not an arrogant pr!ck like I was sort of expecting.
Having said that, diss Murdoch all you like0 -
+1 blondie!
I'm a bit of a noob to it - just enough knowledge to be dangerous!
I found it an interesting read, and have no opinion whatsoever on Murdoch, but the Times is my favourite newspaper.0 -
i think it is a good interview, as biondino said he seem like a nice guy and not
arrogant at all.
going to remember the steps for bunny hopping and try it on the way home."It is not impossible, its just improbable"

Yep, Danny is a nice guy, as are most of the riders I have met accross all disciplines of cycling.
The level of riding that Danny has achieved is indeed amazing, but to credit him with inventing Biking Parkour is utter rubbish and is an insult to the multitude of riders who have developed street trials over the years. I haven't watched the interview, damn net nanny, but I suspect Danny would be the first to credit the likes of Ryan Leach, Chris Akrigg, the two Martins, and a multitude of other amazing riders who have helped develope street riding and make it more accesible to the general public.
Personally I think if a journalist is going to make such a bold statement they at least need to get their facts straight first. Not doing so just discredits the entire article in my view.
Phew that's two in a day  I must need an outlet for all this pent up energy, the London Phoenix boys are going to get a hell of a work out tonightpain is temporary, the glory of beating your mates to the top of the hill lasts forever.....................

Good interview, I think it's good that it's attracting some positive interest, the journo doesn't paint it as boldly as you make out, sure they mention he's invented it, but they follow that up with 'or at least pioneered a whole new sport'...many chaps have done a great deal for the sport, but to pull in 5million viewers is no mean feat. credit where credits due I say0

The video reminds me of the old Hans Rey and "Martyn and Martin" videos they used to sell out of the back of MBUK.
I kind of thought this kind of trials riding died out a few years ago.0 -

Evidently no one has ever done it before according to the Times
In reality street riding never died out, it just stopped being reported quite so widely, but to be fair it's always been featured in MBUK. It can however reach a much larger audience these days thanks to youtube and viral marketing techniques, and greater exposure is good for any sportpain is temporary, the glory of beating your mates to the top of the hill lasts forever.....................
