Received my new bike today. No instructions for gear indicators - haven't been able to get on bike as of yet (well did for 2 mins).

Any websites out there that explain how it indicates what gear you are in?

Cheers

what is the bike? and the shifters.

there is normally a set of numbers and an indicator that shows what gear you are in.

but looking at the cassette and the crankset will give you an idea.
"Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Yep, the shifters will have numbers on them in some cases, but not always. I would not worry about it too much because it becomes completely natural once you get used to it.
You only need two tools: WD40 and Duck Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the tape.

Hi, its a rockhopper comp disc and the shifters are Shimano Deore SL- M530 - couldn't see any numbers when I was looking at it though.

Dont worry about it, your legs will tell you if its too high or too low a gear. You dont get them on Sram X9 or X0... Just ride the bike :) Dont cross the chain tho- ie dont ride the smallest gear on the front with the smallest gear on the back, and the same applies to big ring big gear. Middle ring on front you'll be fine using the full range on the back.
