Need some new kit....(clothes related)

Having recently been out and got absolutely drenched on a ride I've come to the conclusion that I need some decent clothing to keep me warm and dry. I've done a bit of research but wondered if anyone could offer some suggestions/alternatives for me to check out?
I'm after:
Jacket - http://www.wiggle.co.uk/p/cycle/7/Endura_Gridlock_Waterproof_Jacket/5360020526/
Preferably high vis, must be water proof, breathable and light (easily packable in a medium sized Camelbak). Warmth isn't necessarily a problem as I can layer as required.
Water proof bottoms - http://www.wiggle.co.uk/p/cycle/7/Altura_Attack_Waterproof_3~4_Overshorts/5360038391/
Cheaper alternative to these? I'll pay it if necessary but wonder if theres any cheaper options around with the same features
Socks - http://www.wiggle.co.uk/p/cycle/7/SealSkinz_Mid_Light_Waterproof_Socks/4000000278/
Do the water proof ones actually work, are they comforable? Sweaty? Thinking theres not much point in having the water proof items above if it just runs down my leg and soaks my feet.
Gloves - http://www.bikeradar.com/gear/category/clothing/gloves/product/windstopper-gloves-31015 - Again, wanting water proof, and breathable for when/if it gets too bad for my existing ones...Alternatives?
Also thinking of one of these to carry it all in...I've got a Tesco one at the moment which is more than adequate for the shorter rides, but for the longer ones, need a bit more storage space http://www.bikeradar.com/gear/category/accessories/luggage/hydration-pack/product/octane-8-09-34552
All the above are just my first ideas, but I'd really appreciate peoples ideas/suggestions for alternatives, or comments if anyone has any of these items or knows of similar things.
Many thanks in advance

your at the right time ot buy the winter kit! its normally cheaper in htese moneths on ebay than it is in late spet/October!!
i got some Milano over trousers for a tenner posted of ebay, and some seal skins for 15, just by haveing a nose, also worth a look for army surplus places as they often have waterproof socks in cheap! seal skins gloves are suposed to be quite good too!
have a nose around the online bike shops and see who has what, and check on ebay as they do sometimes pop up cheaper!Timmo.
