Just to let you all know that in a local paper some guy had run a cyclist off the road breaking smashing his hip ( will have to try and find the story )
Some or a lot of these drivers are happy to do this sort of thing ( had a driver go between me and a bollard and it was close )
I was happy to have removed him from the car ( lucky I can look after myself and have train for 12 years ), yes I know its not a good idea but as one of my teachers says, some people only learn one way.
Funny thing is he did not stop but put his foot down and me being 15 stone too, funny that
What gets my goat is that they are more than happy to do things to cyclist that they would not be happy if some one did it to them.

I do try to stay calm but not always easy a round here, North London as it sometime drivers use me as sport.

Some of these drivers will meet the wrong person sooner or later and if you where to see my teacher ( now 66 ), he does not look like much but I would like to be a fly on the wall if they where to cross him

What I have tried to say not so well is that I cant just be that we just have to put up with it as some drivers will take it to far and people end up in hospital or worse.

How can that be something that we should just put up with?

    1 Bat, 2 kick & punch, 3 chase, 4 Police turn up?
I do find it funny now mind you, but at the time though I was not best pleased.

Your story sounds terrifying as do some of the other posts. Total psychos out there. Unfortunately I don't think it will be long before a cyclist is either shot or knifed by a driver. I don't finger waive but that doesn't seem to make much difference to some nutters. I've been chased several times by red mist drivers either in or out of their cars but have always managed to get off the road or made a quick escape. I've had a couple of last resort D-lock moments and have been prepared to use it to protect myself. On one occasion about a year ago an a aggregates 8 wheeler trucker thug almost drove over me as he came up behind and couldn't pass because of oncoming traffic forcing me off the road. He then got out to attack me. He had me by my shirt on my chest but I had my ABUS Granit X plus in my hand high in the air ready to bury it in his head. Are you feeling lucky punk came to mind. He was a 6ft bald headed thug. I would definitely have used it had he hit me. He told me it would be assault if I hit him with it. I told him it would be self defence with pleasure. A few moments went by where he was weighing up whether I would use it on him if he hit me. Luckily for him he made the right choice. He then told me that he was going to effing get me. He got in his truck and drove off. I waited about 10-15 mins before setting off after him. Only one road I'm afraid in the middle of nowhere. I unfortunately didn't have my mobile on me. He must have hid his truck further up the road like Duel, as when I drove by his hiding place he emerged shortly after to drive his huge struck straight at me at 50-60 mph. He wasn't going to move out to pass me and blew the lorry air horns so I jumped with bike into a 4 feet deep drainage ditch adjacent to the road. Had I not done so I would have been killed. KERRY PLANT HIRE WAS THE COMPANY NAME ON THE TRUCK. He left deep tyre tracks on the edge of grass verge where I had been cycling just before I jumped. I sat shaking in the ditch for about 20 minutes in the morning silence about 7:30 on a sat. Then checked myself over as I had sustained a few bangs and then climbed out the ditch and checked the bike. Then cycled very warily to plod in Peterborough to report it who made me feel like a criminal plus they did absolutely nothing  .

I was walking in town along the pavement this evening minding my own business when this car came by from behind and same chavs shouted abuse at me. A few minutes later car came back in opposite direction and driver blowing horn and gesticulating and shouting at me. A black Vauxhall Corsa 58 plate full of chavs. Anyway stared at them as they went by. Never seen them before. Carried on walking and a few minutes later back they came doing about 50 in the 30 limit right close to the kerb where the passenger shouted more abuse out the window and driver continued to blow the car horn. Anyway carried on walking crossed over road so if they came back they would be facing me so I could get a good look and maybe a pic. They did come back a few mins later this time screaming the nuts off the car doing about 60 in a 30 limit in a residential area. Was starting to worry but fortunately made it to the shop. Had a good look around. Loads of time had passed so thought now safe to walk the 3/4 mile home. Half way back said car of chavs comes screaming up the road again flashing head lights, hazard lights and blowing horn and chavs shouting yet more abuse and offensive gestures as they drove past on other side of road. Managed to get a pic of the car just in case something happened. They were all about 20 years old and got a good look at the male driver. Anyway next thing I heard was the boom boom boom and thought....ohoh! They were coming back yet again this time with another car an old white Renault Clio in tow with more chavs dangling out the windows. I got another pic just in case they did anything. They slowed down to about 10mph coming right next to me by the kerb shouting words at me their mothers' should never have taught them, giving me the finger and filming me with their mobiles. Girls as well as blokes! I thought that they were actually going to stop and something would kick off so I was ready to defend myself not that I am any good certainly not 8 against 1. But they drove off yet again. I started walking quickly as I was nearly home and thought if they were going to pass by again I could make it home before they had a chance to turn around gain at the other end. I didn't want them following me home! Sure enough they turned 360 again at the mini roundabout at the bottom then came back. Once they'd passed I legged it home before they could turn around and see where I had gone. Pretty scary really. When I reached home I was a bit of a reck but called plod none the less giving them all the details. They said they would send a car as priority. I'm still waiting.

About 20 minutes later I went out in the car to see if I could see any police or them. Nothing, not a yellow jacket in sight, the chavs or the sound of a police siren. There is a large plod shop about 1/2 a mile away but it is only open 9-4pm presumably because this is only when criminals are at work.

Don't know what the answer is. Certainly the case becomes stronger everyday for emigrating.

dilemna, time to get a one-way ticket out of the back of beyond!

There are some proper mentalists out there.
