I always specified my KOM ** frames to be black with black transfers so you can understand why I find it just a bit flashy and overly ostentatious.

Hi Geoff, that takes me back a while. My first racing frame was a Mercian KOM, great frame bought from Lakeland cycles in Kendal, Cumbria in 1978.

Well I worked in Derby ( at RR) for years so it was the obvious place to have a frame built. My wife and I have 4 between us. Black with black transfers looks classy because you just get 'Mercian' written in the gold outline. I really do like understated things :)

My father bought the frame when i was 15 years old it was a 23 inch frame.and was a little bit to big, but we bought it thinking that i would grow somewhat, Unfortunately i never grew that much and after 3 years and a lot of debating i sold it and bought a TI Raleigh frame in team colours. No question the workmanship on a Mercian is superb. The Ti Raleigh wasn,t bad either.
