Hi,
I am planing a road cycling trip for this summer. I quite fancy the thought of riding some of the bid mountains in the French alps. What I fancy is doing day rides from a base (e.g. chalet). We will be 2-3 persons staying for about 1 week.
Can anyone recommend an area, chalet, rides, airports, transport, etc? (Traveling from UK)
Steve.

I have a 3 bedroomed apartment in Ste Foy Tarentaise, which is ideally situated for the Col d'Iseran, Col du Petit St Bernard and Cormet de Roselend. There are of course plenty of other routes in the area. 2 hours from either Lyon or Geneva airports, or 9 hours from Calais.0

Try Bourg d'Oisans - It's right at the foot of Alpe d'Huez, and within riding distance of: Col du Galibier, Col de la Croix de Fer, Les Deux Alpes, Col d'Ornon.
Only 45mins from Grenoble.

alpcycles.com are based in the Tarentaise area and do the whole thing.....catered chalet, awesome food, organised riding, transfers from and to Geneva airport and a whole world of cycling experience in the area.
Give them a shout and I know you will have a wicked time.
