Chris Noir's Night In...

So, the missus is off in the Lake District with her mate leaving me alone at the computer with only a few* bottles of red (some rather lovely Chateu Neuf de Pape, thanks for asking) for company. So, go on - post me a link to something good to pass the time your favourite music vid, comedy sketch etc. Nothing too long, like. I can't guarantee how long I'll be here (ie conscious). Ten minutes tops. Nothing mucky either...
Current mood - mellow.
*Approx one-and-a-half less than there were at 3pm...

You got the booze in, so next step is the music!
I suggest you start off with...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oldctNEsJLkMaking a cup of coffee is like making love to a beautiful woman. It's got to be hot. You've got to take your time. You've got to stir... gently and firmly. You've got to grind your beans until they squeak.
And then you put in the milk.0 -
Cheers!
Yeah, number 1 - liked it! Had heard the name but didn't know they were from Manc. I've been listening to a bit of more 'heavier' music recently - I used to be a bit of a Black Metal lover and have been listening to it again recently - Wolves In The Throne Room are my current fave.
'Gay Bar' - indie disco classic - may pop to the off licence get a bottle of Aftershock...
Currently encouraging the cat to 'get down' to track three but it's not having any of it - the spoilsport.
Top contributions though! Salut!0 -

Cool -will have a look. I'm not really restricted by time - just sobriety. Although admittedly, the two are currently quite interlinked. The things one will do to avoid Eurovision...0 -

Jane's Addiction were always great weren't they? A really good alternative to all the hair-metal that was around in the late 80s / early 90s! The live version of 'Jane Says' on the Kettle Whistle compilation is a personal fave.
Track 2 couldn't go wrong - great tune to start with; MIA's use of The Clash would normally get me irate. She's great.
Trent Reznor and Co... Always great!
I never knew Faith No More covered 'Glory Box' - and so bloody well, an' all! I gather they're reformed although sans Jim Martin which may offend purists...
And yeah, Nicolas Sarcozy does have a Hot Wife! Those crazy French!
PS - I challenge you to be in your mid-thirties AICMFP...0 -

Woah, cool! I vaguely remember this series - and laughing like a drugged horse when one of the characters had a 'Things To Do' list on his fridge - It said 'AM - Morning W*nk, PM - Afternoon W*nk'. And it summed up my (then) dole-bound life perfectly!0 -

Y'know I've listened to shamefully little Four Tet - although I've always liked Adem's 'Homesongs'. Will have to investigate further!
I used to have (on video-tape; how old and lame is that, kids?) a couple of P*rno For Pyros tracks from Reading Festival (or summat). In fact, I've just tried linking to it but YouTube won't let me access it without membership - possibly due to the presence of the topless, thong-clad fire breather that first drew my attention...
'Dirt' was a great album wasn't it? Layne Stayley RIP.
And BoC are just my all-time favourite electronic / dance (whatever people want to call it) group. Was it you on here that mentioned you'd seen them live a few times. Someone in these woods did... The Campfire Headphase is always seen as a bit weak but I think it's just as good as 'Geogaddi '- although 'Music Has The Right To Children' is unsurpassed!
Bloody great shout!0 -
What? not watching Eurovision :?:
We are usually in Crete at this time of year, where it is a big deal in the bars & hotels. This time I'm listening to Ken Bruce on Radio2 whilst watching tv. What's not to like? The older I get the faster I was0 -

Ah, just dive straight in with - this.. There was a brief period in 1992 when Minisrty / RevCo / Lard were Gods!0 -

Yup, 3 times. There's talk they'll have a new one out this year. Makes sense as it's Warp's 20'th birthday. Also the first new Aphex Twin since Drukqs.

Seeing BoC THREE times is way beyond cool! Broadcast remind me a bit of Ladytron -although they can be a bit hit-and miss.
Not heard LFO before - good Warp madness! For BoC type stuff Bola was always good!
And 'shoegaze' is all the rage again! MBV's recent shows have been awesome!0 -

Oddly enough the first time me and my Missus had an erm, intimate time together it was while Lordi were rocking their way to a Eurovision victory. So many memories... Few people can say Lordi were the soundtrack to something significant but I can...0 -
Just a moment to say - this is an excellent thread! This is going to be bookmarked. I hope you're still with us ChrisNoir...!
Your earlier mention of Layne Stayley just reminded me of how surprised I always am when I hear that Scott Weiland is actually still alive. Anyway, I'm glad he is, as I hope the following link demonstrates.

EDIT: And I now celebrate my 100th post by turning on Eurovision to see Dita von Teese on stage. How does that work?Making a cup of coffee is like making love to a beautiful woman. Wow, there's some awesome stuff been linked to here. You've got taste. I thought you were all a bunch of bearded sandal wearers who couldn't see past the Beatles.
Here's some more.
Bonobo
Sigur Ros
Pantera
And a nice bit of animation

Yeah, Scott Weiland always seemed heading for an untimely demise - weird times those 'Grunge' days. Nowadays I rarely listen to Nirvana, Alice In Chains but when I do I always think 'should listen to it more and ignore the personal baggage it reminds you of'. Soundgarden were always my favourite though. Took my first 'proper' girlfriend to see them a few days after Kurt got busy with a gun. Very odd night...0 -

Ahhhhh, Dita. On a scale of 1 to 10, I'd give her one....

I can see why John Peel liked it!
My current favourite two-piece is The Black Keys. Although I think a bit of overdubbing may have occured here...0 -

Enjoyed that; I've got Trout Mask but didn't get much further, for no good reason either.
