Employment query, getting through an induction period

Well - it is maybe for the best cc. I hope tst you find something better in the very near future. I've worked in various roles in the public sector (as well as in the private sector and for charities). The public sector can be really poor - but I've also had a couple of great jobs there.
It might be worthwhile agreeing a reference from them before you go......? An agreed form of words could be most helpful - e.g. CC left to concentrate on (studies, canal towpaths, children, whatever). Add in the positives ( timekeeping, attendance, getting on with colleagues, etc - just leave the boss out of it, ). Agree with HR - not the boss.
Good luck mate

I have an email from HR as to the terms, they'll basically pay me for my notice period without requiring me to work.
As to the rest it would seem I had no positives in the slighty more than 2 months in the job I don't believe I had a single positive comment from the boss anyway, and if the boss was to be believed I wasn't performing my job well enough or fast enough and was basically just disruptive towards everybody else with everybody apparently complaining about me all of the time (bit of a shock to hear that), a bit lopsided I feel (naturally enough) but I doubt I'd get a reference good enough that it would be useful and not a hindrance in finding work.
As it was it came out that a reference I was given by a previous employer was less than complimentary, came with caveats about my performance and problems they had with me too. A previous business manager who was himself a serious problem described me by reference as a "nightmare", a bit lopsided given the vitriol that was apparently on display when he left himself and given the office manager (mate of the MD) had also been going out of his way in giving me the sh*ts and was I thought frankly unprofessional in attitude at times. One rule for some etc.
Nice to find on leaving a job that I started it with one hand tied behind my back and a black mark against me from the start. Think I'll need a job in contracting where I can prove myself again over a period before being taken on more long term somewhere.
PS Actually my ex-boss did have a positive comment, she said I had high level IT skills, how I don't know as I don't believe I ever displayed any. Then said that would be a worry in the office as if I stayed as I might start to delete files from the server maliciously. Great eh?'Twas Mulga Bill, from Eaglehawk, that caught the cycling craze....0
