Well, thanks to a few folks on here - thanks guys - I found myself heading out over the top of Cut Gate with Peter (Cavegiant) yesterday, taking the left (SA) path on the way down & being well prepared for it to be windy on top!

Just wanted to say a quick thanks; its a great route, particularly loved weaving through the stream bed on the very top & trying to guess the depth of the 'puddles' (doesn't do them justice). Both of us were running near-slick back tyres (all ready for the sunshine) so the start-to-wheelie/spin-up/face-plant-in-the-bog routines were endlessly ridiculous!

We got back unscathed, although Peter snapped his chain twice(!) and my freewheel gave up the ghost - although it managed to stagger manfully back to the car on bloodied pawls! American classic, done about 650 mile - very poor (someone was bound to ask!).

All in all a great day, be back to do it again before Winter sets in, should have a couple of weeks yet...

Thanks again for all the great advice! 8)

Try it in white out conditions if we get a winter, then add nighttime for good measure 8) Its unbelievably good when its as dry as a bone, even better in the snow and dark 8)

:) Coming back down Mickledon edge was fun! We got there and there was quite a bit of ice around under hard packed snow- lots of places were very grippy and some was well, like riding on ice! Mucho fun tho'!
