Would a GT ZUM frame be appropriate to build a MTB?

Hi all.
I've been offered a GT ZUM frame, brand new, for around £60. This frame looks identical to the GT Zaskar frame (it's even polished) & I'm wondering if it would be strong enough to put all my bits off my Claud Butler Stone River frame (it's running Tora forks, XT 4 pots, FSA crank, Ditch Witch wheels etc etc, all good bits) & build it up into a MTB.
I love my Stone River frame as it's super tough & fits me great, but it is a bit on the heavy side.
So, any ideas if the ZUM frame is just a re-badged Zaskar frame with road components bolted on, or is it a completely different beast geometry wise etc?
All help appreciated.
Cheers,
Gwaredd.

TBH, I don't know! Can you weigh it?0

I can try, but it is a very light frame.Bike Radar Review wrote:Today’s Zaskar mountain bikes are slinky carbon beasts, but the aluminium frame lives on: in the beautiful limited edition 20th anniversary re-issue, for starters, but more appositely in the ZUM (Zaskar Urban Machine) range, which takes the Zaskar frame to the streets full time.
Hmmm... sounds promising.0 -
SHould give some indicator. Recent Zaskars (medium) are between 3.5 and 3.6lbs. They use a fully butted Kinesis Superlight tubeset.0

OK. LBS have just weighed it & it's come in at 4.8lbs for a large frame. Does that sound like it uses the Kinesis Superlight tubeset or just 6061 alloy?
At a guess I'd say my 6061 Stone River frame can't weigh much more surely?0 -
Sounds fairly heavy for a an alu XC frame to me.0

Does to me as well, probably not a MTB zaskar frame.
Though was it the bare frame? Headset cups and bottom brackets still attatched make a difference lol, and what did they weigh it with?0 -
Totally brand new bare frame with nowt attached. They weighed it with very accurate fishing scales.
I suppose the only way to compare would be to strip my frame right down & weigh it with the same scales.

For 60 quid is fine, will be tough, but light it isn't. Quite suprising actually!0
