Any tips on how to stop Brooks saddles from sliding backwards? I've tightened the seatpost clamp but it slowly moves back over a couple of weeks.
Say... That's a nice bike..

I have Brooks saddles on all my bikes and I've been using them for years but never had a problem with them sliding back. I suspect the problem lies with a faulty seat pin clamp.

+1 The saddle on my winter bike was doing this and it's most annoying haven't resolved it yet but will probably replace the lot asap, i'm certain it's the clamp, not a great deal of help for you i'm afraid though

I've wrapped electrical tape around the brooks saddle rails, hopefully this'll stop it sliding.

I have this problem on all my bikes. I'm sure there's a well known and neat solution to it - maybe filling a slot into the seat rails for the clamp to sit in - but I gave up and just dial in the position as best I can with the seat right back - which has been fine, but others might not be so lucky.

gree it's still doing it. Maybe use a bit of thread lock or superglue between the contact points of the clamp and rails?

  • Yes. Place a two inch piece of spoke between each seatpost runner and each saddle rail then tighten.

replace your seatpost - it isn't doing its job.
  • Just bought a B17 special in Honey to go on my brand new Red Allez.
I've done 2000+ miles this year and still have a sore' 'Intersection' after 10 miles.
worth a try, seems 'normal' saddles just compress under my 17stone bulk
  • I don't think the B17 is suitable for a road bike, it's too wide. Although may differ for heavier riders.

  • too wide for the seatpost or too wide for my Ar**se
  • Too wide for arse (at least mine) on a roadie, it'll be great on a upright commuter or hybrid though.

  • Anyone notice with Brooks they sit very forward along the seatpost? Mine's fully forward. I may get a couple of seatposts with no setback.
