Cartridge Bearings...2RS or ZZ?

Does anyone know the practical for/against in regard to 2RS (rubber seals) and ZZ (metal cased) cartridges in bottom brackets and hubs? Is one more suited to the kind of punishment they would receive in these applications?

    metal shields do not keep all the crap out, they are non contact. while the rubber seals are contact.
    I would not use ZZ on an MTB.
