ideas for upgrades...

my mate has a saracen mantra 1, hes lookin too upgrade and has 250 quid to spend but he doesnt want to blow it all on one thing....ive suggested new wheelset...any other ideas you think are worth it are welcome

sorry to be boring but he should put that cash in the bank.
the current retail of the saracen is £300 so the upgrade would be chucking better components on only to highlight the bits that he didn't upgrade
better to save that for the next bike once the saracen dies or goes on ebay
however if he really is adamant he wants bits, then a new fork that is lighter than the current one, or a wheelset (cos these bits are transferrable, or floggable in their own right) would be my choice"I get paid to make other people suffer on my wheel, how good is that"

all depends if he os going to have morem money in the near future to spend? if so save it.

It isn't a racy XC bike though - is meant to be heavy and tough. Changing into something it will never be will be a waste of money.0
