I have a spare afternoon tommorrow and thought I might go here and have a look see.
Not interested in doing massive drops down the old quarry face :( but if any one is around and can show me some of the singletrack which i'm told is here I would be gratefull.

Boris, Thanks for the map looks very usefull and a good starting point for finding your way around.
Steve, never went in the end as the weather forecast was shite and then decided to earn some dometic brownie points as I want to go to the Long Mynd next Friday afternoon and evening. I have heard from few folks that Irchester is worth a spin so I will definately go some time soon, do I take it that you may want to join me? two heads following a map always works better than one!

I'd be quite happy to show you round, I'm usually there on a Sunday morning, or a Tuesday/Thusday evening. I know where all the big stuff is but don't generally ride it myself, the map I sent you is pretty much a slightly technical xc loop, wheels on the ground stuff, think of it as about the same level as FTD (but much smaller).

Yes, I could do that - a Tues/Thurs evening would work nicely as it's only 20 mins from work.

Took the family for a walk there today - looks great. Going to take the lads back for the JungleParc treetop thing - like GoApe for kids!

I'll be in the top car park for 6pm. Pay and display machines are about £2, gate to lower car parks is locked at 5pm. If you would rather meet in the layby on the A45, let me know and I'll ride through to meet you.
    PM sent with mobile number.

Tuesday's good for me, by the top car park do you mean the car park marked as car park 1 on the map you sent me? This would be off the B570 Irchester road.
    6.00pm is fine.

Yes, cheers Carl and Mike. I really enjoyed myself. I now have another option for an evening ride that's only 20 mins away from work.
I've got to go back and tame that steep drop, or I won't forgive myself.

Troopy if you're looking in, there's somewhere you've got to try out.

    Hey there
I've ridden there a couple of times and there's some fun stuff, there's also some good XC in the area, you can get all the way over to Santa Pod and beyond.
Is anyone out this weekend, Monday would be good

Could tie this in with a trip to JungleParc at ICP for the kids, for a 10am start. Leave wife with kids, go off for a ride - Back 2 hrs later? got a nice voucher for money off at Pizza Hut takeaway Monday lunchtime only...........

Thanks for the offer, but kinda wanted a little more than a couple of hours really, We are thinking of going down to Grafham and doing an XC loop out from there. Are you definately going to ICP, if not join us if you'd like.

    hi guys

not been on here for a while and picked up on ths thread.im based in kettering and popped over to irchester park with my wife and kid last wknd.

walked around the marked walking routes and then along passed the quarry back towards the go ape bits, and spied the single track on the quarry floor.

Do you pick it up at the end nearer the car park? also is it good or is there a better part to ride around at irchester at all?

    cheers

We were shown around by a local (many thanks to Carl) which always helps however it really is a case of following your nose and seeing where you end up. There are some interesting bits of single track and well worth a visit, mind you you will have done circuit in about an hour but good fun none the less

I'll be over there on Thursday evening this week if you fancy meeting up. With the hot weather at the moment it's not really worth going there to ride at the weekend.

The Tours Series comes to P'boro on Thurs evening, so I'm afraid I will be taking the family there instead.
The BMX national championships comes to P'boro not this but next weekend, in case anyone is interested - awesome bike control.
  • Sorry to bring up a (very) old thread, are any of you guys still about, and up to showing me round? Or do you still have a map of the route?
Irchester isnt too far from me, and from the sounds of it might be worth a go.
    Cheers.
