I've seen the future and it's in red

I'm working over at Canary Wharf today so went for a walk at lunchtime and wandered into the Evans bike shop. My eyes alighted on bikes in my favourite colour, red. Be still my heart  Once my heart rate had slowed somewhat, I thought it best to come here and get input.

I dunno what kind of bikes they were, but the brand names are Specialized and Krona(or Dew Drop). I think I saw a Cannondale at the bike stand at the station also.

Given my now strong desire to join the scalp taking community come September which I can't do whilst riding my beloved Trek T10 (I refuse to admit to weak legs if somebody wants to make a comment  ), would any esteemed bike person care to suggest red bikes I could take a look at? Any bike, barring MTB, as long as it's red for a round trip of 11 miles daily commute with a 20 mile round trip once a month. I've already started looking for red accessories

That Time contraption is a work of art. I could get one if I sold my car but it'd be far too nice to ride around here.

The Condor Heritage is a lovely red Italian steel framed tourer (available in green too). A tourer may work well as a commuter bike. I want one! Available in the spec of your choice from Condor in London.

    Good call alfablue!

    Looks great that!

Would look even better with a honey coloured Brooks and honey Brooks bar tape.

Agree with the Brooks Honey. I have my eye on this bike for my next C2W opportunity!

The Dew range are by Kona, a great make of bike for proper mountain bikes and cyclocross bikes. IIRC the Dews are uprights, the Jakes (I know as I own one) are drop bar.

I wouldnt worry too much about getting a new bike. Spend a couple more weeks getting used to riding and then you can treat yourself as a reward when you're fitter. :) I suspect the frame is nice and good for the money on the T10 as its steel - you could even upgrade the wheels later to make the ride slightly better

Once again the BR posse come through for me (we need more emoticoms as I wanted to give a virtual hug to you all) :D

Those bikes had me salivating so much, especially the first one :D:D:D Then I saw the prices and had to stop the saliva production. Downfader, your suggestion is a good one, especially as I'm not 'at one' with said T10 as yet and I'm on bike probation til September. You'll have to enlighten me as to the advantages of changing the tyres. Why would I do that outside of a puncture?

Waits patiently for the lesson, with notepad and pen at the ready.

I'm going to print off those pics and pin up at home to keep my focus for the future

Edited to add: I went back and had another look at the pics. Napoleon, your bike is lovely but I'm feeling the bike Why posted a bit more - they's beautiful and I want them now!!!! :(

NapoleonD, I know this is the 'red thread', but if you can find any decent pictures of the orange Molteni master x-lite, I'd be a happy man indeed!

They're beautiful. Guys, these pics are killing me. I hadn't realised there were so many red bikes out there

I printed out some of the pics yesterday and they are on display on my kitchen noticeboard. I'll use one as my laptop pic

Having spent way too much time on this site this morning/afternoon, I'm off to some household chores and go salivate over (probably non-red) bikes at one of my LBS :)

Nah, the orange is the daddy. If it was good enough for Merckx.....
I do think it should be mandatory to fit them with polished alloy chainsets though.

Defo, it would look better with 2006 Record Cranks.

I prefer the Molteni colours too...
