Shimano prices have gone through the roof. I was quoted £230 for a compact Ultegra SL chainset from my LBS recently

This time lasy year a pound bought, 1.9 USD, today a pound buys 1.51 USD
This time last year a pound bought, 1.25 Euros, today a Pound buys 1.13 Euros
This time last year a pound bought 203 Yen (and it rose for a coupel of months) now it gets you 148 Yen, it bottomed out at 122 Yen in February.

A Biek shop owner I was speaking to was saying that every time he put's a set of Shimano price updates into his system, the distributors phone ap and give him a new set of prices.

If it continues Campag may reclaim the largest percentage of the component market again.

All Campag would need to do is drop £100 off its prices (never happen) for its European market.

Campag dropping their prices may make it near impossible for Shimano to compete given their increases.

What I don't get is things like Nintendo, Sony and other such companies not having their prices increase.

not sure campag ever had the dominate market share, it also only goes for road, though they did briefly try MTB's but wasn't good by all accounts.

A Sora brake/shifter set of 2 leavers is listed at £130! And that's just Sora!
